Thunderbird Club

Not sure if I'll keep or really play this bass, as a girl already said she wants to buy it a few weeks ago when it was in pieces, but... Epi T-Bird Goth plus a pair of bunny pattern pants equals one Thunderbunny.

It's a pair of pants I cut up and glued to the bass - documented the whole process in the Luthier's Corner. After being brushed with filler and sprayed with lacquer, though, it does end up feeling like a vinyl tablecloth, though. The bits on the bottom of the last pics are the peelings (nothing more than peelings) of the first attempt, which turned out too rough and uneven.

Interesting effect... :)

HA! Nice.

Clip? You really have a lot of nice birds. I get GAS every time you post one. It is going to be impossible to save up to get the Ric I want. Not to mention the daphne blue jazz (I've wanted one since I was like 12) now that it is an option via the new mod system on you know who's website. It's posts like these that distract my focus and makes me think I should get another bird!

Here's a clip - not from this weekend's show.
I very deliberately choose the Jackson as it's a rather tight, focused low mid bass, thinking it would work well on a temporary stage. It worked out really well, the FOH crew loved it and I had nice on stage tone ( not boomy or too bassy) as well.

I've posted this before.......

Coming along. Woodwork is done (I hope) headstock reshaped, tuners reversed, tummy contour added, heel rounded rounded, holes filled, jack hole made, ready for primer. The rear corners were badly smashed in, it was dropped by someone. Also, opened up routs for emg 35 P&js custom preamp being made now. Final question, add a schaller tremolo????

I may have missed some posts, but what did you fill the old tuner holes with?

Pointy headstocks create tone that cuts through the mix. The linear orientation of the grain of the wood also keeps the bass in tune better.

My TBird was there, but I had a lot more practice time with the Charvel so I used it for this show (last Saturday)

But... But... We wanna see the T-Bird... ;)

Nice pictures, btw Haji! :)

I know you are all about things being authentic: So of course you should add a Kahler bass tremolo! :)

Haha,so true. Just watched videos on kahler site, man they are so sweet plus they can be locked. I wonder how well they stay in tune.

It's kinda gimmicky I'd say... Not particular useful - I mean, how many times have we actually heard a bassplayer make "dive-bombs"..? ;)
