BABICZ BRIDGE TRADE!

Does anyone here want to trade me their gold or black BABICZ FCH 3 point for my chrome one?

Since getting my Greco I've been a little disenfranchised with the TB Pro pickups in my Classic IV. They just don't stack up to the crazy, growly compression of the Grecos.

Sooo, two options I guess.

1) What pickups would get closest to the Greco? Thunderbuckers?

2) THinking about putting Ric pickups in it, because they sound so good when downtuned (which is what I use the Classic for). Anyone done this?

You mean disenchanted?

If you put Rickenbacker pickups in it, you might have to get some sort of custom mounting system to avoid new routing (at least if you plan to use the bridge 4003 pickup).
Also, the string spacing might have to be changed a bit.

I don't know the answers to your questions. Carlo @Dadagoboi might know though.

^ I see the high regard that Greco's (not just Tbirds) are held.
I guess this was the motivation behind my 'which brand is best' question earlier. I was thinking Gibson - Greco - Orville.
Maybe the question is 'what is your most sought after TBird'???

Yesterday we went to a game preserve and a flight show was on. Surprisingly some bald eagles were there, too.
These two birds were in a cage only because they were moulting. Their little brother was shown by the falconer, it was a young bird as you can see by his brown head. Yea, we learned some things. Eagles only fly when they need to, e.g. when they're hungry or in danger. So I needn't to worry too much about those majestic birds kept in small cages. Flying around isn't easy. They're not native here in the north of Germany (of course not). From time to time birds are at large after the show, but they'll be back in a couple of hours or can be reported from somewhere else and are glad to be back. There sure is a relation between bird and falconer, as you can see here:

The show was fun, the kids were but fascinated by the animals. We had a good time.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a white Epi IV. There are some around these days so I got a choice to take a "regular" one or a "custom shop" with chrome hardware. Are there any further differences between them to prefer the cs?

no Problem as Long as I don't have to sell my "gems" (The nonreverse, the heavily modded P and the casady), I don't "NEED" more than 3 basses, I just like to have more :-D

Are the available choices both bolt-on neck basses? One with black hardware and the other with chrome guitar-sized humbucker pickups? As far as I know the version with black hardware is the same as the typical bolt-neck Bird with the same standard pickups and hardware, just a limited edition finish. The chrome version seems to be the same body but with chrome hardware, and different pickups. Some people love the pickups, others not so much. The good thing with the guitar-sized pickups is that you can easily replace them with lots of aftermarket pickups such as Dimarzio, EMG, etc.

Ya but the timing could not be worse, I have had to spend all my mulla in a four day trup to St Thomas. Yes the one in the US Virgin Islands. The place has never been on my radar so I guess I have to takeni e for the home team and go...

Since I know there's a fair number of gigging...or at least giggling...players in our group, I wondered if any of you guys use anything like the BBE Aural Exciter. I find that my TBIV pickups can be a bit boomy depending on the room and wondered if an Exciter's additional harmonics might assist.

I honestly don't know. It has been discussed way back in one of the Tbird group postings but it has been a while. The only model I have tested with the chrome humbuckers was the silverburst model, which it turns out had guitar pickups in it and sounded ok to me but some people like them. No clue what the other models have installed. Sorry I can't help more with this.
