I really like mine. The simple kill switch is cool. I've used it a lot since I got it and have had lots of compliments on it's looks and sound. I like the fact that if I want to change the tone I only need to worry about my amp settings. I'm not a guru when it comes to all the bells and whistles, but I know what sounds good to me and this bass is awesome! I guess it depends on the condition and what you have to give up in trade, but I wouldn't hesitate. It's a BIRD, how could you go wrong? :smug:

Thanks for the buzz. I'm trading a little diy 210 combo with NEO 10s and a Trace AH250SMX head. The combo is kinda bulky and heavy, and my rotator cuff injury doesn't like it. Just came up on a Facebook page I set up a while back, we're gonna meet tomorrow and see if it's a deal.

I like the look of the bass, and the Spartan control thing. I'll be back...

I love my Blackbird!! I sold my clean model and kept one that had been modified and well used. It now has a volume control for each pickup, which is handy but I liked the kill-switch setup better. I will be adding a kill-switch to this one again.

The pickups are more aggressive than a normal Gibson Bird and that is part of it's charm IMO. It isn't a subtle bass and will cut thru the mix more than a regular Bird. I say get it if you can. You can always flip it later if you don't get along with it.

I played one at the local Big Box Music Store (you know the one- near Target on Quaker Lane ;) )... 299.99 used.
I would have liked it better with new strings and a set-up, but i digress... Anyway, it played and sounded like a bolt-on Bird.
Nothing wrong with that!

That was the Epi bolt-on Blackbird I'm assuming? If it was a Gibson you should have snatched that up!!

When I see it written as a "kill switch" I wonder if it is a mute switch or is there more to it?

I can't speak for others but when I say "kill switch" I mean a mute switch. It kills the signal from the bass to the amp. Basically an on/off switch.
