Here's the one I need to re-learn, some pretty sharp playing.
There's some vibe going on in the Universe, I was just re-visiting this yesterday.
I was looking at the Bruce Thomas line because I was firstly revisiting:
Norman Watt-Roy kills.
Either line is beyond my abilities, but I won't get there unless I try.
Makes sense as he is married to Diana Krall who, if memory serves, is a BC native (and perhaps a Vancouverite?).
She's a Vancouver Island gal, Nanaimo lady, grew up and studied there growing up then went to Berklee. She also studied with the amazing Bass Player (multi-instrumentalist multi-talent and fellow Canadian) Don Thompson. She studied in LA, too, she's worked hard.
It's my understanding that she and Mr Costello have a home in Vancouver. They also helped start a "home" for UBC/VGH Hospital Patients' relatives to stay in, very philanthropic, helping those with blood-related cancers.
[EDIT: Oops Engle covered much of this already]
As for Peace Love & Understanding, the song was a Nick Lowe song from the mid-70s, EC & Attractions recorded it in '78 and of course it was on the "Armed Forces" Album in '79. I don't know when the vid came out, all I could find about it, via wiki, is it was directed by Chuck Statler. Krall & Costello were married in ... 2003, I've no idea when they first started seeing each other, but I bet it's probably well after Statler was tramping around Stanley Park with Elvis and the band.
Vid itself, yes Stanley Park as was already established, and at the start of the vid the lads are looking across Burrard Inlet to the North Shore Mountains above North Vancouver (for those that may not know, North Van is a separate city from Vancouver); the sulfer-shipping industry is part of nailing that ID. Were it shot from Spanish Banks you'd have seen Stanley Park from afar and the sulfer-shipping would be hidden by the Park, but with North Shore Mtns still towering above everything: L-R Cypress Mtn, Grouse Mtn, Mt Fromme, Mt Seymour. As for the Commodore, possible, probable even, but I couldn't see well enough in the vid to confirm; the dancefloor there is crazy fun — just stand 'still' in the middle and you'll pogo whether you want to or not because of all the dancers around you moving the floor.
Ahhh I miss my ol' MTBing grounds. *sigh*
