Thunderbird Club

The dolt that listed this says no reserve but the first bid must be $1,250 or better... ummmm… that's a reserve.

Apparently he thinks it will sell for much more. (another way of saying he's dreaming)

Ramones - was Dee Dee the the first to duct-tape the upper horn/strap-peg connection? (note; never moved more than Dee Dee and never had an issue with my strap coming off the upper peg...)

That guy is a natural TBird player - look how low he hangs his P bass. At least in this song he also plays a lot up at the neck and over the fretboard, don't see many Pro players up there that often, but he sounds good.

Anyone here have any personal experience with a hardluck kings spider bass?

They look so cool, set neck. But mixed reviews about the quality on the whole, and they obviously only post the good reviews on their site.

I almost pulled the trigger a few months ago when it looked like I had a shot to start a new SOAD tribute with the old singer (the guitar player/founder and the final drummer I found are the only "old" members left in the old one), but he had ulterior motives and is known for changing his mind on a dime.

I never plan on ever selling my classic pro , but I was seriously considering the spider for a backup, or just another bass to have.

But if they suck, I would avoid.

I don't know of many other $200 bird options that are not used and/or cheap bolt ons.

Having owned the goth and the standard epiphone bolt ons in the past, how would a spider compare?

They LOOK awesome at least.
Don't own one and never played one but did look into them a bit. The price sure looked good for a new bass. In the end I decided to go the used Eppi route and found a Goth listed for $250, I offered $150 and got it. Dropped a Hipshot bridge on it and put a different tone cap in it, now it's one of my best playing TBirds at about $250 all in.

$790 shipped. Perfect condition!

If I were still collecting basses just for the helluvit, this would already be on its way.

It's in Spokane, my Queen. Everyone else, it's free shipping so... there's that.

I really like mine. Very versatile bass and a nice crisp low B to boot.

Nah. It wouldn't balance well in the subway.

I don’t play a five string. I don’t play a five string. I don’t play a five string....If I say it enough the temptation should pass. Right?

$790 shipped! He may not have shipped a bass lately... he's going to take a beating on this sale! Easily $120 to $150 to ship that bass w/case. This is a great deal, MCF. Just do it!

I can’t. I just can’t. But man... FYI the cost to ship the shortie and case, insured, with UPS was $174.00 from Rhode Island to California.

An interesting not so traditional take on the traditional TBird...
Grainger Guitars Hades 4 String Bass Compare to Ken Smith, Fodera, Alembic, Tobias | Pyramid Guitars Co | Reverb
Looks pretty cool if you're into wood (I am) but the electronics look to be pretty much off the shelf EMG so soundwise maybe not as ground breaking as the rest of the build. Drop an Alembic electronics package in it and you'd have something truly unique. I need to look into this company a bit to see what kind of custom work they do, but only after I see what Gibby has to offer in 2021.

Totally! Also think a T-Bird would have done this tune, this video and this band way more justice....

You'd think they do their run first though... have them on hand to fill orders as they come in.

Maybe do 2-4 dozen at a time and depending on how long it takes to get to 25% in stock, then fire up another run and adjust numbers accordingly.

It's best to hit a musician in his pocket when they have the money burning a hole in it.
I agree with you but it appears that everything on the site is either pre-order or closeout going from memory of a couple of weeks ago).

I suspect that the company is cash poor; enough so that they can't front the cost of a production run. As well, batch size matters as there are set up costs (but you know this being a manufacturing guy).

He might be planning to use SHIPBIKES.com that was mentioned a while(6 months?)ago. They're a helluva lot cheaper.

I used to cycle from East Van to the George Massey Tunnel everyday, and side-trips cycling to Victoria on weekends... a good chance I've cycled by your place.

I'll hit you up next time I'm pulling through town, you like Scotch? I'll bring a bottle...

Those rumours that I played 2/3s of a song in C# before figuring out the key was C are erroneous. Or was it the other way 'round?
Either way, nothing to hear here, move along ... move along, keep moving...
Cool - Let me know when you’re in the area.
I’m not a Scotch enthusiast. IPA on the other hand...

+1

My sister made the BEST Nanaimo bars.

Nanaimo's bars, were pretty rough — at least the one's my GF took me to when we went over from Van to visit her parents...

Middleschool geography quiz the teacher had a dot midway up Vancouver Island, I wracked my brain until I finally remembered "NANAIMO!"
I got it wrong. Teacher said it was Victoria, I pointed out Victoria is at the southernmost tip of Vancouver Island, she didn't like that: "You should've known it was Victoria, all the rest of the test were large cities." She wouldn't change my grade, I didn't like that.

+1!

My Granny's fave place, that and The James Bay Tearoom, which as I understand it is sadly no more...

Burlington eh? (where I watched my Gran and Great Aunt dance the highland fling, sword dance etc for my Great Gran's 100th; at age of 7 it's a shocking thing to see old people can still move. Same Gran that got me the Kiss Destroyer album and took me to the Bessborough for sherbert (she lived in Saskatoon before relocating to Victoria).

PillO, what made a Vancouverite leave the greenery of the Wet Coast for the bitter winter of the Great Lakes?

Is Great Aunt still around?

and a teacher who can’t accept correction is a terrible example.
