The '90s were better than now in the Bay Area as well. A "kinder and gentler" place to live.

Bought myself a fun new (used) pedal today to keep things interesting... my B-day is J1 so it's on me! :thumbsup:

There have been a couple people on my local Craigslist that tried to jack up the prices, only to drop them back to normal when they sat for a while. Have seen a couple guys do a couple of modifications and try to sell them for what they have in them. Those seem to disappear quicker.

Hard to tell when they aren't being compared to other basses.

The last part where they guy says that they are much lower output than his other basses is telling. Now maybe he is comparing them to active or semi active basses because he mentions putting a preamp in them.

I know I would be pretty bummed if there is a huge volume difference with say my classic pro, which would make it more of a pain to use as a backup or 2nd bass in same band. As they can be over $200 and surely will also be taxed since I am in CA, having to add another hundred in pickups and electronics to bring them up to snuff puts me almost at new TBIV or used Pro territory, so I might pass at these. It also looks like those humbuckers might not be an easy swap to actual thunderbird size pickups, but of course I could be wrong about that.

I noticed he said detent, not sure if he was estimating halfway or there is actually a detent like an active eq pot or tbx pot would have, since I understand these to just have am a standard tone control.

While the more critical reviewers bass seemed to have a defective tone pot entirely or likely wired wrong.

I had already him a private message after another post had linked his profile and it was the same person with the seafoam one. I remember that one and the neon green alien version had caught my eyes a couple months ago when I was seriously debating ordering one and maybe one of their guitars as well. I have not gotten a reply but it has only been a few hours and I may have put too much info as I tend to do.

But the key thing I want to see is a comparison to an epiphone bird, at the same amp settings. What sounds fine by itself sometimes reveals itself when A/Bd

That Casady mentioned above had me interested, but...
looks bright cherry in the pics, maybe Candy Apple Red ...
even if you account for camera & monitor differences in colour — that's not burgundy to me, and, the closeups you can see there's no sparkle so it's not a CAR either. Who named that colour? Was it Sweetwater or Gibson-Epiphone? Maybe it's just the photography-studio lights blasting it out, it almost looks burgundy in the shady side of the pics.

A lot of the older burgundies fade to an orangey-brown or brownish-orange, I like 'em all.

You get around! Furthest east so far is Montreal, but have friends in the Maritimes so hoping to see them in the not-too-distant future. Fort Mac was furthest north for me, though I had relatives in Whitehorse, speaking of which...
I was in Comox last year visiting those former-Yukon relocated relatives (Courtenay, but we were in Comox for brunch) and then seeing friends in Campbell River. Fantastic trip.
