Thunderbird Club

It's similar, but bigger and fuller. I still haven't quite got the P sound out of a 'Bird, so that's going to be the next bass guitar - a P-bird. The parts and pieces should be here in a few months, and then it will take me a few more months to get my thumbs out and actually build it. But, it will happen. Flats, but no tort. It's a Thunderbird, fer chrissakes! You don't let a spaghetti puke pickguard anywhere near a Thunderbird.

I don't get the Pokemon thing, but then I don't spend all that much time using the phone for anything except a telephone. My son is the same way, so at least I was able to pass on at least one of the correct genetic defects. He's a trumpet player, not a bass player, so I failed there, but at least he has a Thunderbird if he ever decides to play bass. Any guesses where it came from?

;)
His mother?

Anyway, I find I pretty much don't need a pure P-bass sound. T-bird in series mode, or Rickenbacker on the bridge pickup only is close enough and sounds better, in my opinion.

There are a couple of Pokemon Go vids on Yoot Oob that just kill me, laughing so hard my grinceps hurt. One is a some teenage girl (of course she's blonde; gotta run with the stereotype) who walked onto a freeway and got hit...and took NO responsibility for it AT ALL.. She couldn't conceive of how walking onto a freeway might have been the reason. The other shows a traffic stop, with a Police officer interviewing a guy on the sidewalk, when a guy sideswipes the officer's cruiser. It cuts to the guy saying "I can't believe it. That's what I get for playing a stupid-ass game."

They're funny because nobody was permanently injured.

I don't know what the laws are like in Germany, but here, pedestrian has the right of way in the crosswalk. People have gotten annoyed at me for crossing when they had to stop, before, and I wasn't playing pokemon, I was just walking from point A to point B. I don't care if they're mad. The crosswalk is there for a reason.

This resonates with me as a motorcyclist. In the world of motorcycles, it does not matter if you are right or wrong, if the car/truck/semi hits you - your still dead!

I understand the pedestrian having the right of way, its just lime that in Arizona and its pretty absolute there. But to walk out in front of a car with attitude is asking to get dead.

Just my .02¢ worth. I will get off my box now.

Did the trade.

Will load another pic or two, but my phone isn't happy doing it now, I guess.

Quite a sound- the damn thing is loud as hell! Very hot, and passive. Also I find myself starting to contemplate reaching for a volume knob, but alas, only a kill switch. Lol. My heart begins to drop just a little at the absence of tone or pan knobs... but it feels nice. And I'll get used to it. Gonna be a little while!

It's also set up for low-D tuning, with a 115 D-string, nut filed out to accommodate it's greater diameter. This is interesting, as the string tension is lower, and all the songs I'm doing will be moved up the neck 2 frets. Like a med-scale bass, only with lower notes available.

More later. Cool bass...

Is that Neck 10 Bridge 0 ?
Pretty much. If you rewire the pickups in series, you can get a super angry full yet midrangey tone with both pickups up full.

I guess, living in a town where the speed limit is 25 almost everywhere, my attitude is kinda cavalier. If they hit me, I'll probably live, and they'll be on the hook for a ton of money.

You sound old. It's really no different from any other phone related thing. Some people use their phones responsibly. Some people are just dumb and talk on the cell phone or text while driving.

I'm 27 (so no grumpy old fart, not yet) and I played Pokemon on my Gameboy when I was like 12 years old. So I actually understand why people like the game. I have no problem with that as I said before. it's just that it drags their dumbness to the surface.....

I'm NOT talking about crosswalks, I'm talkin about people running on the street blindly because there's pikachu on the other side of the road. In Germany, the pedestrian hat he right of way in the crosswalk, too, and I would never complain about that. It's more about those situations @Haji describes from the videos. been there, seen that. If somebody dies because he ran blindly onto the street, maybe he deserves it. The guy in the car has to live with having killed somebody, even if it wasn't his fault. Same poopie with people committing suicide by jumping in front of a Train. nobody thinks about the conductor.

I re wired both of my Nikki Sixx Gibsons, the one I still have that's got Lulls in it has a very nice tone, clear and a bit of growl, I like it with the bridge pup dialed back. Anyway, pots!
Yes, pots, I'm sure of it!

My daughters love it, of course! I really like playing it, which is the biggest deal. The look is just crazy, that matte-black, light-cloaking finish! Very Star Wars...

Very nice and clean looking specimen...

Looks great with the all-black pickguard too - very stealthy! :)

Thanks, yeah I like the non-reflective thing going on there. It does have some nicks at the back edge down low, not in your face though. I'm digging it, despite my whining about missing knobs!

I know this will probably expose me for the dip$hit I am but even though I 99.9% of the time play with all knobs full on, the lack of knobs would irritate me! :)

Kinda deserves being run over by a car, don't you think??? ;)

Maybe the rest of us should start playing Deathrace and see how many "Pokemon'ers" we can "collect"? :)

Oh dear...

If only I had known how this comment would generate such a heated and derailed conversation, I might not have made it... :)

Maybe I should have suggested a different game like " Sniper Go"... Heck, that might not be too good an idea either... ;)
