Scott's bass was the best part of that version. Here's one of my faves, and the bass player is just a machine.

Interestingly or oddly enough, Wilson Pickett is buried here in Louisville. His family is not from here, but from what I understand his mother moved here at some point and when he died he was buried here. Prior to knowing that I was at a funeral server years ago and looked over in the mausoleum where I was standing and I was right in front of his crypt.

The Donnas - Def kicking some %^&. Solid Thunderbird action from Maya Ford on a '76!

Funny, just yesterday one of my FB friends posted the official video of this and I was noticing the Thunderbird! Both a white and a black one show up there (although blink and you'll miss the black one), and a white one shows up in the video for "Too Bad About Your Girl" too.

I know it's not Thunderbird Thursday (yet), but I was trying to get a pic I liked of my two newest 'birds with the oldest one, and ended up trying to improve my picture-taking with the black light (not much progress there :rollno: ), and decided to share some of that time-sink :meh:

I also found out something interesting (to me, probably no-one else...) by accident :wideyed:

Bitchin' black T-bird with neon pink stripes - great minds think alike! :bassist: (from Palo Alto/SF) Good audio - you can really hear the bird.

Ok here you go folks, it is the 1st one.

Interesting T-bird story. There is a brass mute on eBay (been there a while) advertised as being off of a '63 T-bird. As you all know, this would be fairly rare and especially for a II. I inquired how they knew it was from a '63 bird and they replied that it was off a '63 II that was originally owned by Johnny Thunders. (!) Unfortunately they had to sell the bird when the economy crashed in '08. There was a few back & forth's and they said they bought the '63 II from Guitar Trader NJ in '77. I bought my '64 II from Guitar Trader in '78! (the one I still have) So one of the 3 '63s out there is the ex-Johnny Thunders bass. And speaking about that brass mute - I have 2, one off my stollen '63 and the other off my '64. I removed both and still have them.

All interesting, but when did Johnny Thunders play bass?

That is interesting. I have my mutes, but never used them. I just keep it in the original, sorry "case." I have the covers as well. I'm waiting for @GonePlaid to buy another 60s version and just have to have those covers! ;):)

See, this is why I like working at home, I can crack a Guinness at 11:30 on a Friday and sit outside in the sunshine, makes taking calls on Tech Support way more relaxing.
It's friday..80 degrees here..Just finished cutting the lawn for the first time this year. I'm checking myself into Retox for the rest of the weekend. Cheers!

Yep - most players removed them or at least took the felt pads off. I have the original covers, black plastic spacers, pg, nut, control cavity cover, finger rest, strap pegs and OHSC from my '64 also.

He owned it and probably played it outside of the band. Lots of guitarists own/play bass. :)

I still own and occasionally play guitar. Many of us here do. I think we just get so used to seeing someone with a certain instrument we assume that's all they play- whether that is a very specific guitar, or just guitar in general. Sometimes it's true.
