Thunderbird Club

If you're interested in getting rid of the min-e-Tune system, I'll trade you the standard Les Paul Gibson tuners for the robo-tuner set up.

My sons use them all the time for tuning on the fly when jumping from one song to the next in different tunings. They got really good at programming them for custom tunings. We actually added them to their SG and Les Paul.

Anyway, let me know... we could always use spares since they get stripped from time to time.

Thanks but they work fine. And like you said they make changing tunings a breeze. The guy at Sam Ash also threw in a matching set of Grovers too.

Ditto. I like the heel best.

Never been a Jaco fan. Just not my thing. I view his style very much like modern art. Yes there's talent there but so far out in left field I just don't see a need or application for it. I do give him credit though for constantly pushing the envelope and expanding the bass as an instrument in directions it traditionally wasn't envisioned to go.
I loved his playing on Ian Hunter's All American Alien Boy but the rest of his work is way over my head, in the context of a song he's brilliant.

Bloody Albert. He has his Sunn stuff well into over priced territory. I picked up a 1000s head a few years back (2018? 2019?), with the big Dynaco transformer, some original Genelec KT88s, Reverb, Trem, AND the matching cab with original D15s, in equal condition, for slightly less than $1000 less than what he has that listed for. And then another two 2000s around as well, one of which was $800 for the head, and the other was $700 for the head and matching cab (though the chokes were blown and had to be replaced). The skyrocketing prices of old Sunn gear is damned annoying. Don't get me wrong, they're phenomenal amps, my favorites to play through, but the...idk, cache that has been assigned upon them by the doom community is a real pain. They aren't $2300 heads, $1500 would be reasonable. I know I got mine for good deals, but when you really break it down the heads should sit around $1500. And you can tell the people that use them don't think they're worth it because the ones priced much beyond $1500 sit there for YEARS. And the Model Ts are a whole other story, some of them have sold close to the $4k mark. I'm just glad I bought mine when they were cheaper.
lol “Bloody Albert” your expressions kill me ...
craziest thing is I got the cab for free from a band “The Muggle Brothers” from Pompano FL who wanted it out of their rehearsal spot cause they needed to space and got the head by convincing my mom to dish out 200 bucks as this piece was “collectible” in 1979 lol....

Well said. He's one of those players that I know are talented beyond belief, but still can't hold my interest. Kind of like opera. I certainly appreciate the talent and know it's difficult, but completely uninteresting. We're all just wired differently and I'm glad many enjoy his and other's music.

I'm aware of that recording but have never heard it - I will look into adding it to my collection.

an all-star cast for sure -

David Sanborn (on this recording) was the "go-to" saxman of that era (not Kenney G...) - his was a real story as he fought personal handicaps to become who he was. And, he had a 100% musicians music show in the '80s - much of it can be accessed on YouTube. Queen members were also featured - these were the top musicians of that era. I was an early Mott The Hoople fan but didn't follow Ian Hunter post-Hoople. Time to catch-up.

No, it's an amp control pedal. Supposed to be one switch for the mute/tuner, one to turn the OD on & off. Got the one with the LEDs so I don't have to work so hard at remembering....:sour:

More or less the same - A for one path, B for another

Agreed - as a bass-player I make a point of going out of my way to listen to any player who has had left such a indelible mark on our instrument of choice to understand what they contributed. I've studied and learned compositions from a number of bass players in many genre's so they get absorbed into my instinctual library. Where this becomes most useful is in a free-form jam-session where I've discovered not only my voice but my limitations. The more references to draw from, the more one can land on your feet/keep the groove/maintain the pulse. No down side to exploring famous players styles/techniques.

You're like the master of the slow reveal. One pic at a time, each one peaking more curiosity.

So, which bass gets which strings and is there any specific logic in the string selections? Black Beauties are fantastic on overly bright basses if you want to calm the top end a bit, but might not be very pick friendly. Be careful installing them, the coating does scuff off if scraped across metal while feeding them through a non top loading bridge or under a retaining bar, and they are notorious for going dead if you cut them to length before kinking them with a bend. I've not tried the Roto Blacks, interested to hear your opinion on those.

I've bought a few basses and other things through Sweetwater, but don't think I've ever received candy with my purchases. I need to get on my contact there. ;)
