Thunderbird Club

It's Thursday!
Frank and I met with the folks from BECU (Boeing Employees Credit Union) today to discuss home equity, happily there's quite a bit and after a few formalities we'll be able to go forward with a new roof and a '60s Thunderbird.

Dat's an excellent way to envision life: if you go through pain, might as well throw in some pleasure in the mix.

Googled Gold T&R Kustom bass amps. IDK if any these are still out there or where they are. Too big for my olde arse to schlep around anyway. That upholstery makes 'em heavier than my Tolex covered Kasino. And I'm not planning on moving it any time soon.[OK, forget 'soon']
I kinda wonder what a 360 would sound like with gold upholstery.

I feel the same way about ACC amps. I got my current 360 for $500 about ten years ago. I think I paid something like $400 total for the 320/408 stack that I later traded for a Ric that then got sold for $1500. The Ric would probably go for over $2000 now. Prices make no sense to me.

ACC 360s I could see at a price of $1500-2000. Similar to the Sunns really. Amazing amps, but dinosaurs a bit at this point and (especially in the acoustic case) reliant on the cabs to be 100%. But Passing that point, I'm not much interested in ANY amps, I don't mind how nice they are. I dished out for the Hiwatt, but it's a rare early one. The deals are still out there, just harder to find, but if I paid $1500 for a nice condition 360/361 I wouldn't feel like I got robbed, but a fair, though not great, deal.

The thing is, the house has been a great investment, Seattle is off the chart when it comes to home prices so spending some money towards keeping my investment in the house is the right thing to do. At some point Frank and I will sell and move to the coast so the cost of a new, nice roof will more than pay for itself. And yes - '64 Thunderbird!

If I was going to sell my 360/361, complete with covers and a foot switch, I would feel like $1500 was a more than fair price. But I won't be selling it for a long time, most likely.

TT - an old pic before I replaced the grill-cloth on my '76 B15N. (a couple of years ago) I kept the stained original for 'provenance' sake.

There's a store up the street from me that has a 360 and two 361 cabs for $2100, but the blue faces were painted on cabs and the grills are gone, unfortunately. But they'd be sweet to run next to the Hiwatt and Sunns
