Thunderbird Club

I'm guessing it gives a fatter tone(?).
Hey! I'm big boned...

Oh you meant the amp...

The tone stack will be more mid-focused for guitar whereas a bass amp would have more available at the bottom end. Things like the bass control on a bass amp is likely around 80hz, but on a guitar amp would be voiced around 120hz.

I have the same bass and I plan to add a strap button to the neck heel area. I think it helps position the bass more the way I prefer to wear them when using a strap. Maybe its just the way I am used to it, but it feels like I am not stretching as far for the first position when the strap button is at the neck heel.

Thanks for the input! It just confirms what I've been thinking and I think I'll move it to the back this weekend. :bassist:

My first "bass amp" was a Scott stereo receiver that looked something like this one:

It went through a couple of Advent stereo speakers. I recall plugging into the headphone jack, but I'm not sure how that would work. Apparently it did, and nothing blew up. The receiver got stolen from my apartment in NYC in a break in in about 1983. It had survived all kinds of abuse.

My first "real" bass amp was one of these:

I got it for $100 and the free-bass was thrown in because the guy I bought the amp from wanted to get rid of it after he found it in the bathtub in an abandoned house. The amp sucked, but at least it was more or less intended as a bass amp. I sold it many years later for $100 to a guy who knew exactly what it was and wanted it for guitar. Go figure.

My first guitar amp was a TV something like this with a 12" speaker and an RCA jack on the back for a mono turntable. I've played bass through a variety of things over the years though, once out here I played through a 2 watt Phillips tube radio with an 8" speaker, sounded pretty good in my apartment actually.

Hello all. I have a little bitty question for you all. I want to replace the knobs on my VP and the ones on there now are a bit tight. Anyone know if they’re glued, or what? Recommendations for removal without damaging them (or the pristine white finish) would be most welcome. I really want silver instead of gold, but reversibility is paramount for this project. Thank you for any and all imparted wisdoms.

This works..press on both spoons at the same time..You can put some tissue between the finish and the spoons if you like. The knobs that you want are 18 spline metric...and what kind of a person would put silver knobs on a white Vintage Pro? :)

shoe laces wrapped around the pot shaft, beneath the knobs also works.

Besides the other suggestions, the classic is wrapping a towel around the the knob underneath and pulling straight up.

But I got one of these and couldn't be happier.
