I just watched that vid/movie recently - it is good, one of the high-points of that era.

So many of our gigs, there isn't room to have the case handy-like having to put our cases in a storeroom. I envy people who[almost]always have a stage with some separation from the audience. There's only one place we play(ed) semi-regularly that there's room and separation, but it's outside and I hesitate to play the NR in that kind of heat and humidity(both over 85, F and %.)

My EB-2 has a bridge pickup and a DiMarzio One neck pickup. It doesn't sound like an EB0 at all. It probably doesn't sound like an EB-2 either.

My upright has so far survived a bunch of gigs in bars with tiny stages or no stages. It has had repairs I cannot blame on drunks or kids running amok. Just its idiot owner.

Yah, I've recently got into specific woven straps (very affordable) for specific basses. Used to only have a couple leather straps for all basses. Here a cool recent leather one (Walker & Williams) for a recently completed renovation/finish of a late '60s Silvertone (Dano) Hornet.

Yeah, the latest 'injury' to the NR was my own damn fault. Luckily minor, and being attended to by professionals.

One of the fun things about having a pool of people that get (at least somewhat) mixed and matched for any given Sunday’s worship team is hearing the different takes on songs.

It's one of the reasons I enjoy the occasional open mic/jam. Even doing the same ol'[stuff], different players bring different previous 'arrangements' to the performance. Sometimes weird, sometimes refreshingly 'cool', but almost always interesting and/or challenging.

Once the strap is attached, I give it a couple good yanks for the reason you mention.

Blue Lock-Tite on the strap nut. And a dab of wood glue in body pin. So far never had any loosen up.
