Thunderbird Club

I picked up a CP that was damaged when it was dropped. Doesn’t seem to be any structural damage though. I sent it to my luthier for a check jo though. I’ll post pics when I get it back.
Despite the emergence of VP cult here (which I may join some time, especially if they start offing some really cool colours) I still love my CP. It is really a great bass.

Here’s the damage. Plus there are 3 finish cracks on the neck. My luthier is checking for neck damage, but it stayed in tune for three days before I sent it to him.

Where are you guys getting your custom pickguards? I picked Nikki Red up last year, and I'm considering swapping the guard out for something different. On another note, the previous owner chromed it out, and I really wish he hadn't. I'm not loving the chrome. If it weren't for having the pup ring screw holes, I'd love to take it back stock.

Happy Thunderbird Thursday!!
Here’s Vintage Pro Row..the Epiphone Army.
last week I received the burst VP from a solid member of our TB community. He just couldn’t bond with the shape of a Thunderbird so I bought it from him.It happens to some people. It’s the first generation with the wide tuners (BT 2).The grain and finish work is outstanding.Mint condition.
I bought it to refinish in Lake Placid Blue but after seeing it in person Mrs Gator put a stop to that plan..I can have any Bass that I want..she picks the colors. In my household I’m the boss..and I have her permission to say so.. :)

For those with a sharp eye..I did glue the volume knob insert back in after the picture was taken.

So I guess I’m still on the lookout for a banged up VP..Cheers Everyone.

Well, it's on my NR, but if you can overlook that, mine came from Pickguardian.com. He has a lot of different colors available-even tort. I'm quite happy with his work and the look. For legal reasons he can't do the logo, but those are available elsewhere. AFA the rings, paint or cover the holes w/ a new PG.

Besides the aesthetics, I like having numbers or at least some kind of indicator.
heard that mentioned before and in all honesty, don’t know how numbers can help anyone in a live situation when you have to very quickly alter your tone or volume a skosh....I don’t even look at the knobs but rather fish for them by position and adjust strictly by ear....but that’s just me...
