Thunderbird Club

Actually.........................I've been outside enjoying the back yard today, very sunny and about 85 with no humidity. Beer is good.

Totally possible. I try to get all the history I can. I've even joined the Welsh Club here in my city. They have two or three events a year. We also just had the Heritage Festival. Tens of countries are represented as you can imagine. For years I have gone and I always get a new Welsh t shirt at their big tent, eat some food and visit. Pretty cool for me. This year we were playing a gig in Vancouver that same weekend. Dammit! I'll call the office and get a shirt sent out. Ha!
A Welsh club in Canada, I'd never have guessed! I'd only heard of the London Welsh and the community in Patagonia.

For authentic Welsh T shirts there is only one place, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], sadly you actually need to phone them to order, they really need to get their act together for online ordering but they are a tiny company, just the girls modelling working out of their houses. They do popularise the nationalist cause so for me I'm happy to give them a call
My grandfather was born in Wales amd emigrated as a young lad to America.
Hell, we have the makings of a Welsh Bassists club here

Typical attitudes towards/causes of the people of Wales leaving can be seen here and here, although the former is more modern but it is a significant point in our modern history, both short Wikipedia articles, nothing too heavy. Anyway, I'm veering off into politics now so I'll draw a line under that, no place for it in a forum like this but it's part of your families (and mine) history so worth a read

A signature bass for a musician, that never actually played their products... That's a kinda dubious way of marketing isn't it? ;)

That being said, I do think their JAE Hybrid basses look pretty nice...
It looks like a nicely made thing none the less but I think you're quite right, an Chopin signed Roland keyboard is just as tasteful/relevant

Reading some other threads on TB, jeez there's some snobbery going on with basses, with Fender especially. The good thing about this little bit of TB is it's open mindedness to other forms of the club's title i.e. Thunderbirds; as long as the shape is something like it's welcome and praised, no "it's an Epi not a Gibson therefore not as good blah blah....". It really is refreshing to see this where owners of the pukka instrument are more than enthusiastic of the "version" model or a copy type instrument. I'm sure it's been said before here but I just wanted to say it

Every now and then a few of us descend upon the "general population" sorta like the Visgoths and Rome...........

At my house 7enders are Subaru parts.

Don't get me wrong, I like my Fender, it's a lovely thing to play, it's Mexican but it's a good one but feck me can you imagine the reaction of comparing a Squire with a MIA Fender? I mean Fenders are two a penny, they're everywhere, if there was going to be some snobbery you'd think it would be here, a Gibson T Bird is quite rare in the wild in comparison. Nowt so strange as folk as my dad used to say

Fender's are fine but not the be all/end all that people make them out to be. A lot of the Fender copy's are much better basses IMO. I don't hate Fender, just don't care about them one way or the other. And I have owned plenty (my first bass was a 1964 P) that were nice but never connected with them. To each their own on what brand model they prefer. I don't need to fit a mold with my gear preferences.

I like how everybody treats the Fender Precision like its the best bass in the world and that if you dont agree you are not worthy of inhabiting the Earth and yet its not even the best P bass on the market, let alone the best bass ever

I am lucky enough to have quite a few basses (north of twenty) and actually about half of them are Fenders, so I am definitely not a one brand fan boi. Most are Fenders and Gibsons, but I have G&L, Rickenbacker, Greco and Ibanez basses as well.
I've got several very good Fender P basses (probably better P Basses than many of the people you are referring to) and even a few Jazzes , but if I am looking for the "classic" P Bass sound I will generally use my Greco TB II. It does it better IMO, as do Gibson Victorys.
I actually prefer single coil P Basses to the split coil ones and Telecaster Basses look so much cooler anyway. I love my CBS Fenders as much as my preCBS ones. I don't have a single bass with a Tort guard. I don't particularly like flats. I don't whine like a baby when a bass weighs more than 8.5 lbs. I don't believe neck dive is a fatal condition.
I prefer RD Standards to Jazz Basses and G3s to Rics.
So you can see how I can get into issues in the general population.

BTW Mark. Nice yard!! Looks very inviting this time of year.

Thanks Andy! When you visited it wasn't much, mostly blackberries. Your yard was in part some inspiration, I like the rock you used, closest I could get was Lava Rock (the brown stuff in the photo) set off with pavers and Wash Rock. Altogether it's about 9 yards worth of material that got dumped at the bottom of the driveway, yours truly shoveled it into a wheelbarrow and got it round the back side of the house.
It's become a very pleasant place, even with the 737's buzzing about
