BABE? That tuning hurts my brain.
BABE as a tuning might make me sound better come to think of it.

"BABE" (Bad Ass Bass Edition) was the first limited edition (2007) G&L bass worked through the Badass Bass Players online bass community and Manny at Guitar Man. Hence the special decal which is difficult to see. I think there were 23 of them made. There was an extra for Manny as I recall and that was #23 or a 24th bass. A good number of TBers were involved in the project.

Isn't this the Bad A$$ Bassplayers limited edition? Its gorgeous!
Yes it is. Thank you! I like it a lot. Plays like a dream. Special features are the coil tap, ebony FB with no markers and blackburst (front and back). At the time they said they were not going to use ebony for anything else but I believe they have. Blackburst was also unique, but there are a few floating around that have it, but with a black back as far as I know. I have GHS flats on it currently, which likely sounds counterintuitive like flats on a Thunderbird, but sounds great. With the coil tap, it may be the best sounding Jazz bass I have!

Not a fan of any type of reinterpretation of LZ songs. Super talented nonetheless.

That's funny. Likely a good bit of truth to it as well.

Usually I'm not a crazy about other artists covering other's songs, but sometimes it's interesting. Shoot, Heart doing LZ sounds as good (maybe.....) as many old live clips of LZ doing LZ. Don't care for Heart's newer guitarist. His guitars almost always sound odd to me. Odd as in does anyone ever look at the settings odd. Mike Campbell (T.Petty) was a master at having guitars sound "odd" but were perfect for the song.

Saturday afternoon I have a charity related gig at Stuart H-D, outside, likely hot and humid(Duh, it's SE FL). I'd prefer to use the $?,000 67 NR TBird, but hot/humid. So I'll be playing the under $200 '09 EB-0. Not my regular band, this BL likes to do a lotta Cream, which the regular band doesn't, so I'll be almost authentic w/ the EB-0. No Marshall stack either, just the Rumble 200c. Rehearsing tonight to get familiar with[stuff]I've heard but never played. FWIW, I'll be wearing jeans and my purple "Vespa" T-shirt.:smug:

I only have one of those Vox headphone amps right. Just got back into playing after 7 years of not even owning a bass. But I pretty much stick to the 50 setting. But I always liked mellow and deep from the bass. Always used flats and 15" speakers
Wife says if I get a proper rig, she gets another kitchen set up for baking and chocolate making. And right now I can't even afford a rig
When you can, sounds like a win/win. You get a rig, chocolate and bakery goodies. Can’t beat that!

It's not that I don't like covers, I do. I just don't like it when they aren't a close reproduction of the original. But oddly enough, I do like covers that take a pop song and make it hard rock or metal.

Disturbed has done this successfully a few times.

But then there's those guys that cover rock songs with cellos... no thanks.

Looks nice to my untrained eye, but the pup doesn't look original. It had a pretty massive headstock failure at one point that looks on the back like it was fixed nicely but looks butt ugly on the front. Unfortunately the seller only give two pieces of information about the bass - it's a Gibson and it's in Japan.
burst seems off too...

Was wondering about that, but the finish has a lot of age checking so I assumed original. Admittedly, I don't know enough about these vintage birds to positively spot a fake or a real one. But if the pup isn't original then in my eye the bass has lost more than half its value. And if the finish (except for the headstock) isn't original either, then it's sale off for me (not that I was ever in the market to buy one).

Those pup screws

About ten years ago(???) a friend was in town and he wanted to see Korn so we went. Surprised when we heard them cover Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall, we were taken completely by surprise. they did a good job.

And a hat.

Sounds great. There's still time to snag a Marshall. For the reunion he used Hartke. Plenty of those around. He sat on a stool at times as well. So you cold take one and say you wanted to look the part.

I see better what you're saying Larry, and agree. John Mayer reinterpreted Free Falling and it gets rave reviews. I can't type what I thought when I first heard it. But I'm just some chump who's opinion matters not and didn't pay. Mayer got a check regardless.

A great reinterpretation is Allman Bros "Dreams I'll Never See" by Molly Hatchet. Other than the words, it doesn't seem like the same song. Well, musically it's not. I love both versions. Both are very cool and interesting songs in their own right.
