Thunderbird Club

LOL - that's an understatement.

Between the Porsche Cayenne, the Cayman, the 911 and my wife's Boxster we spend about $4000 a year on oil and fluid changes. Those are the cheap years. The painful year is when a scheduled major service hits - easily $2000 per car. The killer year is when new tires are needed on top of everything else.
When the planets align and all the cars need major scheduled service and tires were looking at something in excess of $15,000. Don't even get me started on brakes (ceramic with rotors on just the Cayenne) are something around $10,000. Thank goodness these cars virtually never break down or I'd be out some real money. :dead:

One of these days I'll scale back, but that'll most likely be when I'm too old to really enjoy driving, and when I do cut back on car costs I'll be perfectly budgeted to buy a vintage TBird or two a year. :D

And here I thought BMW stood for Break My Wallet - It's Porsche. :D

I've owned a couple of BMWs and your initial thoughts are correct. They are every bit as expensive to maintain as a Porsche (tires are a bit cheaper on the beemer) but unlike my Porsche cars, my BMWs were constantly breaking down and fixes weren't cheap. The only car I've owned that broke down more than the BMWs was Audi, fortunately it wasn't much more than a VW in repair and maintenance costs.

As JC players, do you each find that you favor a specific setting on the impedance switch? I think Kat888 (remember her? Kinda miss her wit and wisdom around here) kept hers in max crunch all the time.

I only have one of those Vox headphone amps right. Just got back into playing after 7 years of not even owning a bass. But I pretty much stick to the 50 setting. But I always liked mellow and deep from the bass. Always used flats and 15" speakers
Wife says if I get a proper rig, she gets another kitchen set up for baking and chocolate making. And right now I can't even afford a rig

Grey flats with purple silks. I would guess Chromes.

Silks are actually red. But they do seem very grey compared to how I remember the GHS Precisions I normally use.

Tube Tuesday...
Heck, even my pedals have tubes

If your pedals count, so does my amp. It has three tubes...

@Count Bassie Do you happen to know which band this might be?
"Around 1990, there was a band of (I think) Brown University students that was 3 bassists and a drummer. I'm totally flaking on their name right now and I'm hoping someone here remembers them. I remember seeing them at Rocket/Club Babyhead and AS220. Does anyone else remember who I'm thinking of?"

I was looking at the first picture...

As for an amp - get a cheap Fender Rumble or Ampeg Rocket combo.

Sigh, all this talk of J's and P's; here's how you do it:

I remeber seeing Antietam which was two bass players at the time. That was a while ago.
