i am not sure i believe it is a 2001 i put some black tape wounds on it and will take a better picture and post it tonight. Thunder is no understatement. light and beefy.. i think it needs a little tlc the action was a little high but im not used to the bridge.
My 2001 is the magic bass. It was set up wrong when I got it, but now it's got me feeling superstitious about changing anything! It can be Sherman's army ripping right through Georgia or it can be delicate as you please. Gibson caught lightening in a bottle and put it into Thunderbirds right about then.

The bridge should be almost touching the body. Or maybe even touching it at the back. The front of the bridge should be raised just a little higher. I think that's the main thing people miss when setting these up. The couple I have got for a pretty good price have had awful action because the bridge needed to be lowered. Then BOOM!!!

Here's another one on CL in Kansas City for $375 case included, looks like it's pretty low mileage and in VG condition. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] $350-ish seems to be the going price range for these these days. Would be a prefect match to my Pro V 5 string. Kinda tempted but really don't need another 4-string
$375 isn't much with the case, the epi case is nice too if I was on your side of the water I'd buy it just to strip down and repaint with nitro rather than the poly, candy apple red and get the black bits changed to chrome. In fact if I see one cheap in the uk that's what I'll do

The layers are not visible on mine. But that could be because it's a couple years old.

Yeah there is a reply further up with a pic of a vintage sunburst that shows that the slices can be seen if you look closely.

I just prefer the look of the Pro IV. Both natural and sunburst clearly show the neck through design.
(But i'd buy a Classic if I was buying again soon anyway.)

I'm just wondering at the difference in the Sunburst in the Pro & Classic. The necks body section of the Pro has a different colour treatment to the rest of the body, where the Classic has the same colour treatment as the whole body.
Is that it?

I'm soliciting unbiased opinions from the Thunderbird Club for my 2017 bass project. Should I get...

1. Another 'Bird

2. Italia Maranello solid body in red or blue *sparkle* (to satiate my Manic Street Preachers/Nicky Wire obsession)
ITALIA GUITARS

3. Eastwood EEB-1 (to go with my Canadian amp and Canadian compressor) - if I want to get close to a P sound
EEB-1 Black

4. Epi SG bass (looks pretty, nice necks that I've tried, not a fan of the stock electronics)
