trouble is for me I'm in the north and they're in the south. To be fair we do have s couple of decent Local shops who occasionally get a fender in but never seen a Gibson in them ever

So with that plus new strings, a power conditioner and a handful of new mic cables. I give you my new-to-me 8 cent 1995 T-bird along with my oh-i-guess-it's-not-a-classic 2015 bird.

I haven't tried it through my big rig yet but I do have a set of Geezer's lying around I might put in if I can get just the J part of the PJ set.

Well until some enterprising Celt opens a guitar shop it's the best we can do. Got my hard case from GAC

Now you mention it, I lived in Edinburgh for years and don't remember seeing a guitar shop on my 'patch', although wasn't looking at the time.

I think they're an Aussie company, they have a custom shop and might be able to do a NR for you.

Unfortunately, their website expressly states 'no custom bodies unless you want a hundred'. An NR will turn up if the balance of probabilities falls in my favour.

Grants in Tollcross (now closed)
Mev Taylors in Morrison St (now closed)
Sound Control - Canongate and St Mary's St (long closed)
Scayles - near Surgeon's hall (now Live Music)
Bostons- Leith Walk (dodgy looking 2nd hand shop,owner died in mysterious circumstances)
big pawn shop on George St (still going)

There was another one near the Meadows (might have been linked to Scayles/Live Music) and Rikki's down Leith

I'd forgotten Scayles, although judging from the window display I always thought it was a saxaphone shop. I lived in Leith briefly but don't ever recall walking past Rikkis (wrong side of the road for that section of Leith Walk).

Yup. And not a scratch on it. Just a little tarnishing on one of the keys. Also, with fresh Boomers on it I think I'll keep the stock pickups. They sound pretty good.

If Gibson doesn't start making TBirds again soon all the existing ones will instantly become collectable.
It's a look and sound that many players have built their image around. For many it's not just the tool of preference, it's the only tool that works for them. Fender hasn't ever come close to matching the TBird sound or look and probably never will, so that leaves current mass builders like Eppi and boutique upscale builders like Cataldo and Lull in the catbird seat.
If Gibby doesn't bring the bird back I think you'll see an upturn in the used Gibson market regardless of age.

Catching up took a while, even with notifications loll. Some nice basses have appeared In thunderbird news on my end, my tigerbird build has all its parts gathering - i sent the guitar fretboards back to allparts to exchange for bass fretboards & the frets (along with a lot of other parts) have been ordered yesterday so in a few weeks time, i'll be able to continue & finish off this bass. As for the ungothed bird, i'll be dismantling it next year altogether to give it a fresher look & better updates in terms of inlays & paint finish, also i'll be ordering the EMG TBHZ pickups in a few weeks time so electronic wise, it'll sing better with the other crowd of clear & precise basses i own (the stock pickups are decent, but i think they have some issues due to the wires coming out of the sleeve & they do look disconnected from the pickup interior).

So new pickups, new life, new bass all is well in my thunderbird realm I'll get to posting pictures when i start back up!

Got to love eight cent treasures. Mine's an EB-2. Nobody will mistake it for a Thunderbird, but it is the bass that launched me down the path to preferring Gibson ergonomics and Gibson sounds. Eight cents is the magic price.

Get a stand with a pivoting bottom fork and your T Bird will sit fine. Mine cost less than £5 from Thomann it was a Milenium GS2000 if such a thing is available near you

We are the band for an old friend's wedding reception, it should be a fun time. I'm taking the White '89 and the Jackson will be the back up.

This is why I invested in the Hercules GS414. The run of the mill hanging stands they had at the store didn't go high enough. And with the history of broken headstocks I would strongly recommend the investment in an actual t-bird case. Although I think someone once posted about more affordable ones that fit them.

Collectability is a function of desirability, not just rarity. Chevy made a small number of El Rancheros with a straight 6 in 1976. They're rare, they're not collectible. Remember why the 2016 is rare: few wanted that bass at that price.
