Thunderbird Club

If we had the whole night like you do (multiple sets) I would consider bringing a second bass, probably a fretless. All the gigs here are multiple bands per night and 45min sets @. I have never broke a string while playing and don't think I ever will - I just don't play that hard, especially with my current bands. Bringing a second small, easy to include amp (like my TC Electronics 250) for sure as I have had an amp fail mind-set.

Having broken Es and As many times onstage, I always take a second bass, I play hard.

yeah, going to tell the store tomorrow. I think, it's very strange. First I want a NOS CP, but it's sold out. Then I want an ebony or sunburst VP, but it's sold out. Turns out I found a hidden gem, am I?
Yes you did.
And as @Gaolee will tell you, Thunderbirds have a magical way of making themselves available to you, they pick you, you don't pick them.

I used to laugh at that comment, but the longer I stick around here the more I see it happen. That CP you originally wanted wasn't meant to be, neither were the Ebony or Burst VPs - it's the White VP that made all those others not viable.

You're gonna love it!:D Rock it in good health!:bassist:

Reminds me of my old '65 LeMans!
Wish I'd have held on to that one...

I probably use that tone setting 75% of the time, works great, sounds fantastic.

If the thunderbird you want to buy is the exact one in the link - grab it before it's gone. That's a first year run VP. Made in September of 2017 and the 389th one that year from factory #23. I have a July 2017 Ebony VP that was the 64th one from the same factory. IIRC the first year run had slightly different tuners than the following years and the fretboard is a bit darker than the newer ones. It's a very sweet bass in a hard to find color.

For future reference here's the guitar dater link for Epiphone...

(It's a .org site and won't let me paste the link, so you'll have to type it in yourself)
I don't remember the dates when they changed tuners, but the first versions were taller. Some report they were smoother. Mine are. One of the later versions is a little rough--but works just fine. I'd never spend money replacing them.

Thank you.

Looks fantastic. I prefer the darker fretboard. Wish mine was that dark.
NBD and club number soon I guess?

Not that we talk about this too much here, but I always bring at least two basses to a show, why? Nobody wants to watch you change a string on a bass guitar (or any instrument for that matter), watch a pro do it with grace and hear some fantastic guitar playing as well.

He breaks a string around 2:54

I recall someone said he did that intentionally. He did play with heavy strings, but I don't get the fake part. Haters gonna hate and find something wrong.

Nice! Pontiac, AMC, what’s next? How about a 1974 Corvette...

note: not mine, I sold it decades ago but it was identical in year, color and options as this one and probably in about as good of condition. Won a few shows with it. Loved that color, called Laguna Grey, not far off the color of the AMC you posted.
