Thunderbird Club

It's a national holiday here and I go to the shop (again) today. So the ebony is out of stock and they're still looking for the sunburst. But, the Alpine White one still have a rosewood fingerboard. I'm confused, the VP should be on laurel, right? On another note, I love the sound of neck pickup solo and tone off with stock strings. I think I'm into VP more now
I've seen white VPs with the two different fretboard materials. Not sure how or way there are variations. Availability and cost, and possibly looks? Someone who actually knows will hopefully correct what might be misinformation on my part.

Had some acquaintances live in Jakarta for a few years. Taught at one of the universities--which one I don't recall. Lost their young daughter in an accident and eventually came back to the states.

This could be down to Epiphone’s rebranding. They changed the name of the Vintage Pro to the Thunderbird 60s Bass fairly recently. The VP listings state rosewood fingerboard whilst the 60s Bass say Indian Laurel. It’s not impossible they might have an older model in stock that has a rosewood fingerboard but the new ones are “supposed” to have Indian Laurel (if the specs are to be believed).

You can figure out when the bass was made from the serial number on the back of the headstock.

Added benefit of the $99 paint job is for that price they also paint the tires and windows to match.

And make sure you wash it before dropping it off for paint, because they'll paint right over any grease spots or mud clods or anything else.
I had my Chevy Blazer 'Schibed before I sold it, and it took me a week to get the overspray off of the glass, tires & trim!

Hey! They said they'd paint it. They didn't say they'd do a good job.

where are you? Happy holiday!

I waited for the white because that was the color I wanted.
I was initially disappointed with the light-colored laurel fretboard when it arrived, but the VP's monster tone and playability quickly won me over.

Edit: I had meant to reply to tyohars post!

A Firebird AND a GTO, now that's what I'm talking about. Tough choice, though I prefer the hardtop GTOs so I'd go with the 'Bird.

His hardtop '66, this car is a complete factory restoration, down to the dealer option page taped to this inside of the driver's side window. The metal and paint are flawless, the rear pillar styling is simply stunning, this car won a Concourse gold ribbon at the GTO National show.

Plus it looks amazingly practical with the huge trunk space.

You could easily lay 6 Thunderbirds in their Gibson cases in that trunk!

Reminds me of my old '65 LeMans!
Wish I'd have held on to that one...

It sounds like it’s old stock, nothing wrong with that at the price they’re letting it go for as long as everything checks out.

Appears to be a 2017 by the serial #. If it's a good price, grab it. You could always (A) return it, or (2) have it refinished some day. At least it hasn't done a lot of traveling.
