Today is new (to me) amp day! One of the Long & Mcquade stores near me had a decent selection of used amps, so I tried out a couple of GKs (Legacy 500, Fusion 500), a Traynor SB500H, and a Mesa D800+.
The Mesa was too nice to walk away from:

L&M often have solid deals on used gear (not bargain prices, but fair prices). The gear has been tested and you you get a 'no questions asked' warrantee. I like buying used from L&M. With no risk that the gear won't work, I see little reason to go the Kijiji route unless there is no way I could get the gear through L&M.

Who's That has a couple of shows coming up! Broke the Fenderbirds out, first time in over a year. One is a Cataldo JAEBIRD, the other I built myself. 7enderbirds are go

Somehow, Kijiji isn't as popular as CL here. L&M is very reasonable and their service is great. They provide a 3 month warranty on used gear and they offered a 1 year warranty for about $50. If I had bought a GK, I would have gone for it.

Mesa has a 5 year transferable warranty and when the guy at L&M checked the amp's history, it came up as 2 years old. That means it should have 2-3 years on the warranty. I just registered it on the Mesa site.

Play ot through my Ampeg and she didn't sound as aggressive as what I heard on the store (which I don't like at the first time) using Fender amps. Might be Fender vs Ampeg things, but she sound perfect through my Ampeg!

Fantastic! Now you have a great sounding bass that sounds even better than you thought it would. I love a happy ending, or in your case a happy beginning.

Don't be surprised if you start getting drawn to additional thunderbird purchases. Five years ago I had one TBird (and it wasn't even officially a thunderbird, it's a thunderbird shaped Spector) now in addition to the Spector, I have two Gibson TBirds, three Epiphone TBirds, two Greco TBirds and a BaCH TBird.

I haven't heard of anyone else owning a BaCH instrument since I bought one of their Telecaster basses. How do you like their TBird? My Tele bass was fine, I just wound up trading or selling it in order to get something else.

Question: Yours has chrome, most/all seem to have black as I recall. Any difference or reason? Did you chrome yours?

All of them are. Every last video. Even the Ox's and Leon's. They were the frontman for bass in their bands, but a P Bass player was behind the amps. That's wght Ed King "quit" Skynyrd; they couldn't keep a BOH bass player. But Ronnie swore him to secrecy.

My favorite 3 tone was on a G&L bass with J PUs. The yellow was very subdued.

Here's a nice live version. Nice to see Ed on slide and Leon sing a bit (and playing a "real" bass). The only bird on stage is Allen's, and he's of course playing it to perfection. As are they all.
