Thunderbird Club

Been playing with the photo effects on my phone (camera? Camera Phone? ), & felt I should share a bit :bag:
(sharing is caring? Right? :cautious: )

So, even though it's not Thunderbird Thursday, here's a Thunderbird anyway :meh:
(and an amp. and a fake cat.)

Sweet SQ model. Can’t wait to hear your take on how it sounds, should be quite different than a typical Tbird.

Do any of you fine gents have one of these (PF-50t)? I came across one for a really good price and am sorely tempted. I want a B15 but can't afford one and don't necessarily want the issues that old (unrestored) amps usually come with. Are these comparable at all to your ears?

(This one has the 2-10 cabinet, but if I get it I may at least try a 15, just to compare.)
I’ve heard a lot of owners rave about these. I might be mistaken but I seem to remember something about the early cabs having an interference issue with the flip top. Consequently some owners “fixed” the issue by cutting out a good size chunk of the cross bracing and possibly weakening the cab structure. You might want to check inside the cab to see if there’s been any poorly done mods.

On hold pending payment - who?
Ha - not me for once.

Trying to skim catch up after being at the hospital till after midnight.

Thanks, but I assure you I'm an exceptionally average to below average player. And, I most definitely am not a good "sister" in law at all!;)
LOL - I guess it could be worse, you could be an exceptionally average to below average sister in law, and not a good bass player.

I'd love to hear a detailed description of this amp and a sound clip!
That would require me playing.... I am suffering an anterior interosseous nerve palsy in my fretting hand (thumb and index finger not working properly). I haven't played in a couple of months. On the upside, I have a second surgical consult next week and with a little luck will be scheduling the surgery in the next month or two (I was referred by the first surgeon to the hand clinic).

Best wishes for a good consult and surgery to put this behind you. Full and speedy recovery as well!

sorry to hear….explains the unusually high watermelon content of late…:D
joking aside, best of luck in your hopefully speedy recovery.

I know, I almost included a disclaimer for you a those like you, which there are many. Unfortunately, Texas is a very big state...
Eventually it will all be paved over with suburbs, office parks, and factories. And all of those will be abandoned about five years after completion when Texas completely runs out of water.

Your '15 has the wrong pickguard on it. That is something we do judge out here in Seattle. Shallow is good.

I played my '15 last night with tapes on it. It sounds like the biggest, baddest, hairiest, meanest Precision with flats imaginable with those strings on it. I like my 7ender P, but it may be even more surplus than it already was.

I hope the surgical consultation goes well and you get your hands back. And I also hope your melon carving skills are intact no matter what. Some things are critical.

I'll second that!

Thanks all. Nothing really need be said. I have confidence in the surgeons I am working with and believe that I will end up playing again soon.

Having said that, when I am back to playing it will cut into my melon picture search time...

Thanks for the heads up! Luckily, this one looks unmolested. I did notice the flip top has to be turned down with the amp facing the right way or there is interference from the upper speaker hitting tube cage.

Nice. I've been there many times over the past 20 years because of work. I highly recommend avoiding the Riverwalk and going to Southtown, which is down South Alamo, below E César E. Chávez Blvd.
I won't be there for long. Chances are that I'll be able to go gawk at the Alamo on Friday evening but that's about it. I have a 6:30 am flight home on Saturday morning, which means I won't be up late. I don't know how long I'll be tied up working on Friday. It could be quick, or it could wipe out the whole day. My work is like that.

More on topic. The black VP is due to arrive in Seattle on Thursday at the GC here. I'll look at it and make sure it's not completely destroyed before accepting it from them. But not on Thursday, because I'll be in the air. Maybe Saturday afternoon when I get back or Sunday. It won't have a case or a gig bag, and I doubt it will fit in any of the 'Bird cases I already have. Funny how a brilliant move sometimes causes complications. Good thing I don't have all that much time to think about it or I would be rattling around in anticipation.
