Thunderbird Club

@MCF
I ran across a Candy Apple Red Eppi Limited Edition Thunderbird the other day. I’ve been sitting on it for about a week now trying to decide if I want to buy it, but to be honest its a bit over priced and I don’t feel like dicking around with the seller to lower the price (call me lazy). IIRC you mentioned that you were trying to locate a red one, if so PM me and I’ll send you the owners contact info.
Thanks for remembering. Yes, ultimately, I want a red, a white, an ebony and a TV Silver. But I can't right now with the '21 Gibson NR coming in a few weeks and having just gone way overboard (it's worth it) with my recent Mesa amp and cab purchase. The CS LEs are extremely nice Thunderbirds. First rate finishes, great fret work and a Tbird growl with the right strings and amp eq. Think about it. If you don't end up liking it, I'll take it off your hands next year when my wallet recovers.

You kids and your options....

Explorers are such cool basses. I sadly sold mine last week (in less than 24 hrs), in the end just didn't enjoy playing that big neck.
Wouldn't mind adding a non-Epi or Gibson Explorer-type again one day though.

A re-issue Gibson would be the one to look for, not an original. The originals are a medium scale and honestly are a bit lackluster overall, not Gibson's high point. The re-issue is basically a pointy Thunderbird, much better.

The best Explorer bass I have ever owned is either my '76 Ibanez Destroyer (medium scale) or my Hamer Blitz (full scale).

Go get yourself for your birthday, birthday boy! Happy Birthday, Scott!
Many thanks! I did buy myself some drivers for my Marshall 2x15, 1/32 scale Westland Whirlwind kit, some strings, and I supose the '78 Marshall Super Lead MK II could be considered a b-day present I learned long ago that it's best if I handle my own b-day present buying
