Regarding my UPS post, I wanted to briefly elaborate on the log jam scenarios. You might be thinking "Why not scamper up the ramp another few feet, and gently toss the backed-up packages over the "dam".... instead of prying the first one free with a length of pipe?". Well... that takes more time. And they want quick efficiency.

Problem is - trying to pry free a long narrow box wedged against a railing by 1-2 dozen boxes behind it - is not going to be without some sort of stress to the package or contents within. Especially if they want you to hurry, and you're using a pipe or crowbar. Their logic was - remove the stuck object - and the resulting avalanche of boxes is more efficient, clock-wise.

Some folks get normal sized boxes with punctures or munched a bit. Explain that? That was most likely collateral damage. Perhaps your box was pressed up against the first one, and in trying to free that one, yours took a glancing poke as well. It isn't like you carefully changing a flat on the roadside. It's like a NASCAR pit crew changing a wheel during a race.

Anyway... hope this sheds some light on why (UPS) packages come slightly ravaged. I have no beef with the company. My home route drivers have always been top notch. I know they aren't accountable for packages that are beaten, poked, or pushed in.

More testing.
This is vinyl on a pickguard scrap with no coating. I used a fair bit of pressure with the edge of a key. This abuse should not normally happen to a bass:

This one is gold foil. It’s a bit tougher:

The multiple scratches on outer section the left wing are more realistic - made with a pick:

Looks pretty durable even without the coating, the pick guard was damaged as much as the logo. Now how do they stand up to being in the hot sun for a week or the cold freezer for a week. Seriously, I ask because it’s feasible you could be shipping these things across the desert or the frozen tundra in a non air conditioned or non heated UPS box truck.:nailbiting:

BTW - I’m looking so forward to getting my new truss rod cover!:hyper:

4th of July bike rally weekend in Hollister where it all started and the town got christened “Birthplace of the American Biker”……happy 4th of July weekend all!….

Some great American muscle there, including that AMC thingy.

Big ahem on the sign in the first pic!
Beat me … to it. :smug:

Not like it's a bad thing
Taint bad at all says some.;)

the residency contracts we used to get were pretty upmarket, hence a pretty strict dress code for the bands….in some instances the horn sections (we used one on occasion when the club stage permitted it) had to wear black tie…..add to that the fact that Miami Vice was all the rave at the time…
My immediate thought on the clothes was Miami Vice.

I think I did what anyone would do. I don't think anyone could leave him there to drown.

I really do hope that there is an owner frantically looking for a lost dog. I let the police marine unit know I had found him in case he had fallen off a boat - they may receive a call from someone.

If not, I think I have a new little buddy.
Hopefully not intentional. We got a dog in El Paso when I was 10 because someone tossed a paper grocery sack with newborn pups into tumbleweeds beside a dirt road in the desert 100 yards behind our house late in the morning on July 4th. Thankfully we found them just a few minutes later. I named the one we kept Chile Pepper because she was hot stuff.

Awesome.

OK, 2 thoughts. (A) pretty lame, (2) no place here provides anything. Our gig tonight? Weprovide the PA, all amps, drums, mics, whatever. I'd be pleasantly surprised to find gear on stage. (One place we play has a a poorly set up PA. It's not hooked up.)

SF clubs have a PA and usually a sound person, but not always (have a sound person). Only played one gig with a 'house' bass cab. (18" Carvin) I liked it so much I bought a used one - it's my rehearsal space cab.

Good idea. I can bake and freeze. Not sure if I can freezebake, but....More home science experiments! I do have a temperature/humidity Remote sensor/logger. The software is super clunky, but it works.
