The perfect prefunk, Moscow Mule and a good book

Patton is George C. Scott's best role ever, he played the part so very well and the movie is quite accurate with many moments being directly taken from his memories. My fave scene in the movies is when he walks with some of his soldiers slogging along in the snow during the Battle of the Bulge.........The soundtrack is brilliant as well.
My dad took me and my brother to it when it first came out. We all loved his opening monologue.

My wife laughs at me when I am packing a bass for shipping because I go a bit overboard. I just hate it when I buy something and it arrives damaged, especially when the packing job is :poop::poop: so I do my best to ensure nothing happens to anything I ship.

The worst package I received was an Epi BlackBird with the headstock snapped of. The seller used very little bubble wrap around the body and no protection around the neck at all, so no surprise it was damaged.

The second worst shipment was my green Epi NR. The bass was put in the case, a shipping label attached to the handle, and shipped. Nothing keeping the case closed, no protection of any kind in the case, address was wrong, but somehow it arrived at the office. The UPS driver was even going door to door looking for me because there was no suite # on the tag. Its a miracle that it made it here.
I hear you. I always ship things like I want some thing shipped to me. Plenty of care and protection. I've sure seen some weird packing over the years and been amazed it arrived safe. I never mind mentioning good packing/shipping or sorry packing in feedback.

We played the Bowery Electric last night. Good gig. They have a number of house bass heads, including a GK 700RB. Perfect. But the house Ampeg 410 has one busted cone. That made it tricky to eq. Apparently it's been like that since before the pandemic. I find that ridiculous for a club of this level. A cheap used Hartke cab would be a step up from this piece of crap.

Volume, Ken. We need sound! Cool pic. Love to see members in action.

As much as I love Ampeg--some things I don't care for and the most of their 410 are on the don't care for list. My Heritage 410 is a completely different animal.

I had a very strange morning. I went kayaking about 0830 as I usually do. But I was cut short as I picked up a hitchhiker.

On the Hamilton side of the bay (where it is all seawalls) I saw something furry swimming. Thinking it was a beaver (ahem) even though it seemed too light, I went to take a look. It turned out to be a little chihuahua; cold, tired, and swimming for its life.

Once in the kayak, he just wanted to cuddle (probably because he was cold and wet, because once I have been paddling for 15-20 minutes, I am a little malodiferous). Well, I wasn't going to finish my planned route - I just paddled back to where I started.

I got him home and borrowed a cup of kibble from a neighbour. He ate a huge amount for a dog that weighs 2-3 lbs then curled up on the floor to sleep a little. After many calls to find out what to do with a lost dog. I took him to the humane society. He isn't chipped (and no collar when I got him out of the lake). They will make some efforts to locate the owner. I said that if they fail to locate an owner, I would take him. If that happens, his name will be Splash.
Darwin might have said leave the dog in the drink, but I have problems of logic, rationality and probability there, so I'm glad you did too, if but for a moment and pulled that little lovable fur ball from the water and almost certain death. I'm also glad he didn't knock you in the head, throw you over and steal your kayak. Not much kayak-jacking here, but trends always start with just one incident. And now we all know you're and ol softy!

Same thing we’re having at the GBass house. Frozen margaritas at cocktail hour, followed by chips and home made salsa as an appetizer, then the main course of grilled Santa Maria style Tri-tip with a side of refried beans covered in jalapeño cheese and a side of Mexican rice. Grilled peaches over French vanilla ice cream drizzled in amaretto for dessert and a warm tawny port or Kentucky bourbon on the rocks afterwards while we settle down for a movie.

Any suggestions on a good movie to watch on the 4th? I’m not big on musicals, so Yankee Doodle Dandy is out. The wife isn’t keen on sci-fi, so Independence Day is out. Just saw Blazing Saddles on TV last night. Maybe a WWII flick or a Epic like Gone With the Wind. Open to suggestions.
Well, ya had me 'til jalapeno. Don't like the flavor. No problem with the heat.
Spaceballs.

Fortunately our old Grady just doesn't seem to care.

Most of our friends dogs freak out. As do many vets with PTSD which don't seem to get much consideration.
It's starting to pick up around here so, time to pour a bourbon barrel aged porter and go comfort the cat.

Just received an email from a friend about Independence Day:
Today as Americans we celebrate the birth of our great nation. This is a time to come together with family and friends, enjoy some good ole fashion summer time fun, shoot off fireworks, and reflect on all the wonderful things that make our country the best in the world.
While America is not perfect, we have more freedoms in life than anyone on the planet. Let us all be thankful for the blessings we have today and remember the price paid by so many so that we can have the opportunity to achieve our dreams.
From my family to yours, we wish you a happy and safe 4th of July.

Context is everything. He is a 6'6" guy from Sudan. He's the darkest complected person I've ever known and I love telling people we're brothers. He has worked, visited or lived in many places around the world (mostly not the tourist type places) and has a big picture perspective on things. He's see it all. He speaks Arabic as his first language. After 9-11, he understood he could play in important role as a translator and understanding certain middle eastern cultures. He enlisted in the army and quickly became an officer with top secret clearances and was a trusted translator for many of the people that are well-known names from the middle eastern conflicts. He could have chosen to live anywhere, but chose here. Came here with little to nothing but now owns a nice business he started.

I don't think you need to comfort the cat. I think it's already been into the aged porter. From the semi-conscious look, you may not have any left and my want to go check.

It is here as well. Just waiting for some nut to torch a house or something on a property.:rollno: Saw that in our old neighborhood. Stupidity + fireworks is bad. Adding booze is like adding gas. I'll watch for a short time, but it's just not that interesting and much prefer watching other people literally burn up their money.

I've seen the WDW nightly fireworks show many times. Better than most Holiday special shows.
Tonight's their first show in over a year. Bet it's a monster.(I'm 135 miles away so I'll miss it).

We have a huge display on the river just before the Ky Derby (Thunder over Louisville). It's supposed to be one of the largest in the world, according to what we're told. Watched it on TV a time or two, but would never venture downtown to be among the 100k that gather to watch. The interesting part is the aviation show. All day long there are various military planes and helicopters of all ages. We used to go over near the airport and watch them take off and land. One year prior to 9-11 you could enter the airport and get up close to some the aircraft. Saw a stealth B-2 fly over while driving in town one day. Just something you don't see around here.
