Hey All,

Please check this out, it's the definitive book about Gibson basses put together by Rob (Bassvarken), he's a longtime buddy from L.B.O. and The Dudepit as well as TB. Many of the pictures are of basses from Uwe Hornung's incredible collection of Gibson bass guitars. Let him know what you think and consider buying a great book!

Yes I saw that yesterday, I wouldn't mind a copy, I'll rephrease that, I'm going to buy a copy; it,s always nice to have a nice coffee table book on something your interested in. I hope he does well with it, in a very specialised market of Fender fanbois that seem to run wild with gay abandon it will be hard going

Looks like there may not be enough wire coming off the coils to easily resolder them. Definitely not impossible but not fun either.

EY seems to have pretty good customer service. Maybe they'll send you a pair that they know are in phase. That way you won't have to experiment to find a phased pair if they only send you one. No reason you should have to go thru that.

Their service was good- one of the first pair they sent me was DOA they replaced it without much argument.

You might have known my boy then. He was the guitar player for Elysium Crossing, Bone China, Flesh Petal, Rosebud, The Self Righteous Brothers. Went to Lincoln High and played French Horn in every band from grade school on til he graduated. also the Lincoln High jazz bassist and guitarist. Was First Chair, First Horn in the JYO and the Youth Symphony.

He retired from music business when he was 25 as he couldn't take the business side of the music business any more.

None of those band names ring any bells, but that's not to say I don't know him. I graduated from East in '98, so he may have been older. Attended college in Nashville, and I didn't maintain a connection with the Lincoln scene after I left. Either way, I was happy to see a reference to Lincoln and Dietze Music.

Yes, it is amusing to read.
Some of those guys seem to have a set of standard responses saved which they cut and paste in when they see a Gibson bass thread.
You know, it's bloody sad reading, it's like a paranoia that there may be another world out there. God alone knows what they'd make of Nicky Wire or @TBird1958 , there'd be white hoods and burning crosses :roflmao:
Same people probably rave about the wonders of the high end Fender Jazz clones.
You posted this while I was writing the above, it's got parallels to racism hasn't it

I'm always amused when I see a NBD post in which somebody is gushing over their new...

...Precision.

Really??

I mean, they play fine and they sound fine, but honestly, does it get any more pedestrian than a Precision?

Fretboard is glued for my tigerbird neck! Now i gotta wait until the day off i get to do more work in one day such as trimming excess fretboard & neck wood, planning board down to about 5-7 mm, cutting fret slots & radius'ing down to 9.5" (yup Enemy territory :D ), Cutting leftover excess & cutting out headstock. Already all that is a lot of work, so another day afterwards: Neck heel & headstock taper traced & shaped, neck profile will start to take shape as well (i think i'll go for a cross between a C & a D profile). Only things left will be headstock details & tuning key holes drilled & mounted.

I'll be sure to have pictures up of the progress!
