I'd like to say congratulations, but... if it's black; you got it from Reverb; and it has Roto 77LD's on it? Then, it just might be the one I sold recently. And, if it is? You're welcome, for the 4+ hours I spent de-burring, polishing, and disassembling/re-assembling that Babicz bridge - so it would actually work. It's a nice bridge now, though. Oh... if you value your eyes? DO NOT remove the control cavity cover! A couple of drunken monkeys had a knock down, dragged out solder fight in there. Everything works OK, but... it's a scary mess. The rest of that 'Bird was just as nice as my '13 T-Bird, though. I finally had to sell the '18, because I just hated the sight of that bridge, and the mess in the control cavity irritated the bejeezus out of me...

I remember when I was considering your modern Gibson Thunderbird I was really hesitant because it seemed about half the reviews and comments concerning them were related to flaws or poor quality control. As a result, I almost didn't pull the trigger on this one. But I am glad I did. I don't know what people were seeing and getting that we're bad, but I literally don't think I can find a flaw anywhere on mine.
BTW, do you have any family in KY, assuming Tanner might be a last name? An elderly lady who was a good friend just passed away last week and her maiden name was Tanner and she has family (brother) in GA.

Yeah, I feel you on the hesitation. I'm really glad that you decided to take the plunge and wound up with a great bass. Yeah, who knows what people were seeing. Unfortunately, and not to flat out accuse anybody, but I think a lot of people were parroting stuff they had heard from others/online, and not going off of firsthand knowledge.
No, Tanner is my first name actually. I basically have two last names, lol. I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend.

Ditto my three Gibsons. Best basses I own. Not that there's anything particularly wrong with my EPIs 7enders and Peavy. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I doubt it.

My '91, the Flamingo, is pretty well pounded and for good reason. It's a great bass. The '01 is a step beyond anything else I have ever played. It gets played a whole lot. The '15 is close, just like the Flamingo. The '15 is flawless except for the small bumps and bruises I have inflicted on it. I don't see any problems with any of them.

I haven't run across a bad Gibson Thunderbird yet. There probably is one out there, and I certainly haven't played all that many of them, but every Gibson Thunderbird I have touched has been great. The EB-2 is beautifully made and sounds great although the electronics have been altered. The 2013 EB is also a fantastic bass. Gibson can make bass guitars, no question.

So it's coming down to me making an actual decision if I'm going to buy a new NR or not. If I do get back in to it, realistically, I'm probably just going to be playing at home. I highly doubt I'll ever be in a gigging situation ever again. Then, I'll have to buy an amp, whether a combo or a head and cab. I sold off everything a few years ago. Then, that'll probably make me want to buy a guitar too, lmao. So I'm kind of just having an internal struggle over whether or not it's really worth it to just invest all this money into something I'm most likely just going to be messing with alone at home.

You sound like you need help rationalizing.
Playing only at home? It is good relaxation. And with gear you like, you will play more making you more relaxed. This will lower your risk of various health problems.
You work hard, you bring home the bacon. You deserve nice things.
The hardest question, which colour. Don't torture yourself. Get both.
