Oh I ordered 2 'bridge' pups (following the example of @veebass) and they both measure around 9.2k. Even if they have been wired differently on the underside, as @Dadagoboi said, the wires look a bit flimsy to be resoldering.

Besides, no matter whether they are 7K or 9.2k they should be the same phase.
I've no bright ideas Kat. Except maybe keep the 'backwards' one for a single pup NR build. :)

(But seriously, you shouldn't have to buy another to get a working set.)

the undersides

So it's a bit difficult to see in the picture which wire is going where on the bridge pup. As you look at the bridge pup are the winding leads that pass through the two small holes on the back of the pup soldered to the same core and braided wires ad on the neck pup? Also worth asking EYGP - why is the winding wire coming out if the bridge side of the bridge pup different from all the other winding wires on both pups?

It is difficult to tell from the outside. Even if the connections appear to be the same it doesn't mean they are internally.

What you're seeing is shrink tube over what might be a lot of solder. The China pair I have were soldered very well. These don't look as good.

Happy/Sad bass day.

I sold my 120th Anniversary SG Bass. Got full price for it too so I didn't lose even after transaction fees and shipping. I'm honestly surprised it sold since new ones can be had for cheaper. I can only assume they wanted the Anniversary Edition.

Anyway, it's on its way to its new owner, Sharon. She must be a cool gal if she bought it for herself and maybe even cooler if she bought it for her man.

Or she bought it for her woman

You know what I find really annoying - Not receiving my thread update alerts for this club (while I still seem to get all my alerts for other threads for some reason) and now having to backtrack through three page of posts to catch up.

I just finished speed reading through the last three pages which does effect my comprehension and retention but as best I can recall it sounds like somebody in the club is disappointed with the short shaft they were given and is hoping that a different type of pot might solve the dilemma (I'd suggest Thai Stick, you'll forget all about whatever short comings exist in your life). However, that won't address the small hand syndrome, you'll just have to vote your conscience on that one.

I think that pretty much sums it up. :woot:

Hmmm.... Thai, small hands and a short shaft.... I see no problem there... :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

He really does, especially for such a tall fellow at 6' 3". His hands are even too small for a man of average height.

"Trump does, in fact, have unusually small hands. 15th percentile small.

After numerous attempts to measure Trump’s hands – including Link Removed in the Post that analyzed photographs of the candidate – a journalist from The Hollywood Reporter cracked the case.

Near the exit of Madame Tussauds wax museum in New York hangs a bronze cast of Trump’s hand. It’s been there since 1997, after the museum’s artists took impressions of Trump’s body parts to create a wax figure of him for their collection.

The Hollywood Reporter measured his hand to be 7.25 inches from his wrist to the tip of his middle finger. (You can print out a life-sized outline of Trump’s hand here, and see how you stack up.)

According to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] from Ergonomics Center of North Carolina, the average American male’s hand is 7.61 inches long. Trump’s hand sits at the 15th percentile mark. That is, 85 percent of American men have larger hands than Trump. As do a third of women."

Nerd.... :D

I could be wrong but it seems to me that a nice clear photograph of both of the pups backsides would pretty much tell EYGP if they're wired wrong from the factory.
Another thought, (assuming you haven't tried this yet) measure the resistance of each pickup when disconnected from the pots. If TBird pups are like other pups the neck pup will have less resistance than the bridge pup. It could be they gave you two neck pups or two bridge pups.

That's what I suggested a page or two back....

...good advice is always worth repeating.

My suggestion to Kat is to have them send you one new replacement bridge pup. When you get it just simply try it one at a time with your existing pups, keep the best sounding combo and send the spare back. Of course it always sounds easier than it is.

One thing worth noting for anyone with a TBird Pro IV/V is replacing the stock pups and preamp with passive pups/wiring has resulted in 1. a marked increase in output, 2. an order of magnitude improvement in tone (even with my one off phasing issues) = big angry piano.

Had that discussion with my luthier a couple weeks back when I had my Pro V in for work. He's not a fan of active basses anyway, says they limit and choke the tone. I've likely missed it earlier so (dumb question time...) I'll ask here, apologies if you're having to repeat yourself - I assume the passive pickups you're using are the one's you've referenced above? Did you leave the controls stock (V, blend, T, T) or do something different there too? Result was more what, more the classic T-Bird sound?
