Thunderbird Club

For $1799 you can get a Gibby NR in a choice of three cool colors.
Yeah, for roughly the same price. Could purchase two of my favorite color new NR Gibby basses. And in 20 years each of the Gibsons will be worth a lot more money than that custom bass on the used market.

:DGuess I need to buy an NR.
:thumbsdown:But which color shall I buy…
…never mind, talking to the wrong guy for an unbiased opinion.;)

Seriously George, get your order in. I think they'll be a nice addition to the family. They sell as fast as they're making them. No telling how many they'll ultimately produce. And Willy is threatening to buy them all up; he'll probably de fret them and we don't want that. Mine was completed 08/05, delivered to SW last week. I've got to be real careful because with the finish because it's so new. The lacquer smell is really strong.

I’m getting closer.

The burgundy red that was shown next to the candy apple red Mazda helped me decide that the BR is too dark for my liking.

Our Queen’s outdoor shot of the Green NR looked Gumby green to me, which I like.

Now I just need to see what the Faded PB looks like next to the previous model Gibby PB (both side by side in the same light).

That will narrow my selection down to a favorite. Then I’ll have to decide which of my current basses I’m just not using much anymore and sell it (possibly my 1979 PreEB Stingray) or more likely some of my guitar stuff (1968 blackface Super-reverb reissue and a couple of strats) since I don’t play guitar at all anymore.

I literally don’t currently have one square foot of available floor, hanger or storage space for another bass or case.

Hello Folks.

I'm thinking about getting a new NR Thunderbird bass. Can anyone tell me if they have neck dive? Also, I'd love to see a photo inside the control cavity.

Thanks!

Michael
Oh yeah! Bowling ball at the end of the headstock, detachable neck that isn't supposed to be, muddy sounding, one trick pony, just all around bad. Did I forget anything? We hate 'em around here! And when you have one, you will be sworn to perpetuate those myths, because we wouldn't want the rest of the world to know about Thunderbirds. More for us that way.

You are more than welcome and I'm happy to make you happy, as you have made me happy repairing my Ashdown Spyder 550 amp! A recommendation... cut/trim the decal/sticker as close to its perimeter as possible for the best effect. Can't wait to see the pg fit on your bass. :bassist:

They do have a volume knob and sound great at low volumes as much as high volumes. Funny thing about overkill. When you run a 360 at just over idle, the amount of clean headroom it has makes the sound just come alive. The reissue has a treble horn to go with the folded horn, so it makes plenty of top end to go with the roar. The original has a bright switch that does something similar. I can't decide which one sounds better.

But, the last time I played in front of an audience, which was about ten people, I used the little Carvin rig. It was outside, and that was plenty. And it sounded phenomenal with the pixie dust '01. I think the h/lpf filter had something to do with that. Maybe it was just the air. If I knew exactly what it was, it would happen more often.
I did a jazz gig on Saturday with my D800+ and 2x210AV cabs. Coulda brought a lot less :), but it sure sounded good.

What kind of makeup do you use when not on the internet? Thinking of a birthday present for my wife.

careful... I never attempted to buy something like that for my partner - dangerous territory... (as in, you will never get it right - never) ;)
