Thunderbird Club

I don't know (I should know) the back story on JB's preference of VM's. At one of our gigs, I asked a friend what he wanted and he said "a martini". I got him a vodka martini and after sipping he said "what is this?" (expecting gin) I'm not really a martini person so I only thought of JB.

I follow the Winston Churchill ethos of martini’s.

"Glance at the vermouth bottle briefly while pouring the juniper distillate freely."

Watching some Head East and ran across this. Kids did a great job and found the joy of real rock.

That's a really good cover and high energy band! I think the drummer (from what I could see of him) was the stillest person on stage. They need a second cowbell, though.

For all of us ThunderBird lovers.

Kinda especially to……
@TBird1958 and @dukeorock

I've always loved that song. In high school I just knew what I heard on the radio, but in college some glam friends turned me onto Mott in general. The album "Mott", in particular, was an integral part of my hippie daze. Still love it.

I found a new, fun "exercise" to help me work on my finger/hand stretching - especially on the maybe? overly-wide fretboard on my Pro 5.....

.....that four-finger-per-fret riff, especially when it moves onto the B-string, is a real stretch :rollno: for me.
So I like it :smug:

Nice. A lot of songs in the new band are mostly over four frets, so I'm getting a lot of stretching. Also a lot of leading the bass lines with the pinkie.

Most of the stuff I play/practice doesn't necessarily "need" me to use the pinky.

Except for pinky exercises :meh:

And they're usually further up the fretboard, which is easier.

That D - F stretch on the B-string I can do no problem, until I have to do it in the song, at 160+ bpm

They did a pretty decent job. The lead vocal had the perfect voice for that song. And the guy in the back with the cowbell was obviously having a blast. Fun song, brings back lots of memories.
I really like seeing so many girls playing instruments. The keys player has some pipes, too.

Play an upright like a Thunderbird and you will have strong, stretchy fingers. Or they will fall off. There is no in between.

I use my little finger all the time on the 'Bird. Sometimes stretching for a sixth instead of playing the sixth a string up or using the little finger on the root to play the fifth and sixth two strings up. I don't strtch for the sixth like that on the upright.

It helps to have cave dweller hands sometimes.
