Thunderbird Club

I have never owned a shirt that needed cuff links.

Since I had been gifted some nice links at graduation and later, when I used to have to wear coat and tie to work, I picked up a couple of shirts to use them with. Now when I dress up, it's cowboy formal, so I mainly have pearl snaps. Although I need new ones because I've lost so much weight bicycling. Rough life, huh?

The reverse on the right is the color I like most of the bunch. The pointy bugger on the left is a cool finish as well but I’ve just never been wowed by glitter as much as other finishes. The new NR is awesome but I just keep thinking it looks blue next to green basses and green next to blue basses, its an odd color, I really need to see one in person.

I’m red brown colour blind evidently. So I struggle a little with colours but I find with Gibson colours (in particular) that they use the same names but the colours look different to me. So that confuses me even more. :)

Sparkling Burgundy for the NR win!

I've installed one of my repro tailpieces, and my preferred strap lock on the heel of the neck. I am considering a tug bar as well. For those interested when installing the tail piece it should be about 1/2" from the back end of the three point bridge. When locating the position for the tug bar I placed a 60's pickguard over the newer one and it clearly shows the difference in pickup locations, I much prefer the 60's location and I personally think the new NR neck pickup is to far forward. I really like the 60's tailpiece on the bass, balances out things quite nicely and introduces good string angle break. Also note the brass shim under the D string saddle, I have had to do this with virtually every three point since the 70's.

fixin’ to drill….

I get that there are a ship(sp?) load of songs we could live without. However. Our band doesn't play "shows". We play for our 55+y/o crowd's enjoyment. If they request something and we know it, we play it. And for the 3 +/- minutes it takes for me to sing "Mustang Sally", we don't have to give it a lotta thought(no, we're not on automatic pilot-we 'make it our own'). "Wanna hear "Free Bird?" No problem. Puts us about 5 minutes closer to the end of the night. "Brown Eyed Girl"? Packs the dance floor. Keeps the crowd happy. AND THEY WANT US BACK and tell management. And we have fun, too. I've discovered I actually enjoy contributing to people having a good time!
We were booked every every weekend last year-'til COVID-lost 65 gigs. The places we play(ed) are slooowly coming back, but at reduced $. They're not making as much so they're not paying as much.
I s'pose you could consider this a bit of a rant, but at 76, IDK how much longer I'll be able to play so I'm gonna do it while I still can.
Sure as hell don't hafta learn this week's 'flash in the pan' overproduced P.O.S., 2 chord, 5 note melody "hit"-that no one will remember in a month.
Oh. I useta do MacArthur Park.
I get it Mike. When I had a cover band, we did Brown Eyed Girl, Mama Mia and Dancing Queen. The ladies love that stuff!
