Oh, Oh, I wasn't sure what those were called. I could actually use one of those on my EB4-L with the tilt-o-matic bridge. Do they sell those separately? I see the '63-'69 T-Bird set on ebay but would only need to claw to get my strings back a little.

Our very own @godofthunder59 makes them….

Well I was going to post some phaser samples but.... TB won't accept them anymore. I recorded them on my ipad as before but can't upload the file. I guess some security thing. Spared everyone some sucky playing.
The most seamless way seem to be, if you have a Google account, to put it up in Google Drive, get a public link for it, and put it up here with the media button.

So how much is a 2000's era Line6 Spider II amp still worth, well I found out.
DSC02898.JPG

Because the guy running the rehearsal space where my band is honing their craft pushed this one in my arms and said "Take it."

I never refuse a freebee, I only needed to replace the ring around the input jack to get it back into working order. Of course Line6 is old tech and not really all that good at getting nice tones except for Nu-Metal tones, it's still fun.

I think I figured out what I did wrong.

I quickly did these with the TCE Helix which I tried to match my Phase 90 (which sounds better), which I didn't bring home after use. May be of not interest, but maybe will help explain a little about why I love my phaser.

Nothing fancy at all. Just quick run through of samples without and with the Helix. Ignore the playing and the sting noise. My ipad is at my feet and closer to me than the the amp and cab (Ampeg V4BH and Fender 115). Using the '06 Thunderbird with SIT Power Steels. Fingers except the last sample which is with pick. The third one is just noodling.
Not the best examples of a phaser or low tech recording, but it is what it is.

It’s Thunderbird Thursday, but you’ll have to use a little bit of your imagination…

Pat Wilkins is doing his magic on the body and neck for the next few weeks, should be a fully functional beast in December.
Going to be over the top gaudy...but it a great way! Can't wait.

That is such a great colour !
I am sore tempted to find a local painter to blow a thin coat of that in nitro over my white VP II . I am sure in due course it would make very interesting relic look with the white showing through.

Mr Pointy! Or the NR?
The reverse on the right is the color I like most of the bunch. The pointy bugger on the left is a cool finish as well but I’ve just never been wowed by glitter as much as other finishes. The new NR is awesome but I just keep thinking it looks blue next to green basses and green next to blue basses, its an odd color, I really need to see one in person.

Oh, and you ain’t even seen what finish is goin on the body.

I had to do a complete paradigm change on the finish because of a bone head assumption I made (ended up costing me a bunch). The original plan was to match my blonde tiger stripe maple SG, which I could easily do myself at very little cost.

Unfortunately the “Fender sized” neck that I had originally purchased for the bass was a less than perfect fit in the pocket. I thought I could make it work without too much hassle so I drilled all the pilot holes for the bridge and hard tail with the neck in place. Then along came a Fender neck at a price I couldn’t refuse. Installed the Fender neck and much to my surprise, it was 3/4” closer to the bridge. That meant there were now six pilot holes in the wrong spots and there’s no way you can hide those on a blonde finish. I needed to go dark to have any hope of masking the holes.

So she’s now going to be a tiger eye burst. Still plenty gaudy though it should work great with the gold trim and will be a bit closer to a traditional Tbird tobacco burst in color.
