Thunderbird Club

Breakbeats kits are small, inexpensive, and I like mine a lot. Supposedly the quality is higher since mine was made. I certainly have no complaints. A 16" kick can be a cannon when it's up off the ground. It pretty much has to be in order to fit a pedal without sawing off the beater to the point it's near unusable. That little kit keeps up just fine. The shells ring and sustain in a way that requires a decent amount of damping, unless you want it to sound like a '50s jazz kit. I haven't installed mechanical damper pads yet, just moon gels and the like, to keep it under control.

That particular kit was NOT on my Radar, it is now!

Thanks for the tip!

Bluey gets a Badbird.
Out of the blue I get a email from Mike Watt. He needs a pickguard for his iconic '66 Thunderbird known as bluey. We exchange a number of emails through the evening and the subject of the Badbird comes up, long story short not only is Bluey getting a new pg but a new bridge as well.
At the moment the bass is equipped with a Curtiss Novak 50s single coil Precision, Mike digs it, gives the bass a Dusty Hill vibe, I can see it being a good fit the single coil Precision pickup is my favorite Fender pickup.
Like many birds at one point Mike had the bridge moved, looking at the saddle locations I think it could still benefit from the Badbird.
It was a busy morning I had to prepare the pg get the order together and get to the post office when it opened so Mike would get it on Monday, Tuesday he has a gig and he wants Bluey ready by then. Mike very kindly is sending me the basses original pickguard, about as cool as it gets. Every time I think the Badbird has run it's course something else really cool happens. I'll post updates when I get them.

That is one bad @$$ rig Scott!

Hello all, I need to know an easy way to fill my pickup cavities just enough to fit the EMG’s that I installed. I’d rather not fill them with blocks and re-route. It’s for my Eppi Classic IV and I’m thinking I’ll try putty first?View attachment 4473903
I figured I would fill the edges with putty and then do a sort of black paint fade and clear coat over it. Some custom pup rings would solve the problem if I could find them!
these folks make rings and and covers in Nickel and Chrome if you want to bring a classic vibe...

That was a very unusual amount of rain, and the pump stopped the water from getting near the level of our house. It’s a cast iron 1/2hp Burcam 30071. Made in Canaduh! 2600 Gallons per hour, so 43 gallons per minute(lift is less than the 1.5m in the spec sheet for 2600).
It doesn’t take long to empty the sump.
I’m going to get a generator next. More research…
Good. Some places have those here as well. A good rule of thumb is if it has plastic--get a better pump if you are serious about moving water and reliability. Unfortunately I've bought two whole house generators as well..... Sump pumps are useless with no electric. I went with Generac again for this house. Not because of water, but we live on a hill and if we have snow/ice and no power we are stuck. Not to mention it's wonderful to have power when it goes out. They are worthless and expensive--until the power is off for more than a few hours. Then they are worth their weight in gold. At the old house it kept our pump on several times. Had that not been there we would have had water in the basement, so it literally paid for itself. Thunderbirds don't like wet.

What mine weighed before cleaning out all the dust....

....about 9lbs. lighter than my Max 250.
Haven't weighed the cab yet, but with the new speaker, it should be 7lbs. lighter than with the old one
Feels like 40lbs when lugging them around much..... The Peavey 215 I used it with was no light weight either. But sure sounded good.

My brother and I had one of those. It was a little enduro, and we thrashed it hard. It would do 45, flat out and all tucked in. Like yours, there wasn't much left of it after a few years of early adolescent use. It was gone by the time I turned 16 and could drive a car.

My sixteenth birthday was memorable. I spent it sweating in pain on the floor of my parents living room because I had sprained my neck in a wrestling match the day before.

yikes. The G7S was allegedly an enduro but basically a street bike with s high pipe and on/off road tires. Advertised to go 55 but clocked by dad and s friend at 50 wound out and laying flat on the tank. Tons of fun while it lasted.

A 215D is what I’m hoping to get to round out my new rig. The Combo 300 + a 215D……3 15’s!!!! Maybe a bit of overkill? I would eventually like to find a Mark IV as well.
