I always did. A string would sound a little off and I'd go to tune it and make it worse.... Crap on those tuners on the wrong side.Nah. I'd still figure out a way to botch it.

VVT. The way God intended. Anything else is just more work.I have a hard enough time playing bass and don't have an engineering degree in knobology. (And I know that's snicker worthy.)
So? What’s stopping you.Cool bass! I love the body of my '55 Pbass and would love to have that body style with Thunderbird PUs. I would love to have one from these guys (RS Guitar Works in Ky).

interesting, for me VBT seems like less work..VVT. The way God intended. Anything else is just more work.
I suppose it’s what one is used to. I don’t own any basses with VBT. It probably is easier.interesting, for me VBT seems like less work..

usually a one knob adjustment vs 3....the two volume knobs act as two moving targets, you then typically have to compensate for volume as well....I suppose it’s what one is used to. I don’t own any basses with VBT. It probably is easier.
That brings us to an interesting Thunderbird Thursday Club question…
Who in the club here currently owns a bass that was previously owned or has been played by another member of this club?
I have one, my BaCH (black NR II in the pic a couple of posts ago) originally belonged to @godofthunder59 many years ago. I think I even have a stage photo with Scott playing it. As far as I know, all my other birds are from outside the club.
That’s nice! There was a Vantage copy of that SD Curlee bass. The ones I’ve seen look very similar to my Aria Pro 2 SB600, probably from the same shop.I wanted one of those soooo bad when they came out…..went through an FSO hate period MANY moons ago (sunbursts and tort too)….just preferred more symmetrical designs….these were on my wishlist too….so cool..

That’s better than turning the wrong tunerSometimes harder to reach, but at least they all turn the same direction. When I play any of the other 3(2 2x2,1 3x2) I invariably turn at least one the wrong way.
My first bass was a Vantage shaped like that. It was and absolutely awful boat anchor. I learned a whole lot from that bass and didn't know any different at the time. Then the Freebass turned up, and I started to find out what a bass should actually be like. And then I got rid of the Vantage. I don't miss it a bit and have no interest in ever seeing another one. That’s nice! There was a Vantage copy of that SD Curlee bass. I feel the same way. I can work with whatever, but I like 1 volume. Actually the Eagle only has 1 master volumeusually a one knob adjustment vs 3....the two volume knobs act as two moving targets, you then typically have to compensate for volume as well....
Maybe they weren’t that great. I just remember seeing them and they the same headstock as the Aria Pro2. I had a Vantage Flying V for a few months in the 80’s before a guy traded me the brand new SB600 for it. I definitely got the better end of that dealMy first bass was a Vantage shaped like that.
