I wanted one of those soooo bad when they came out…..went through an FSO hate period MANY moons ago (sunbursts and tort too)….just preferred more symmetrical designs….these were on my wishlist too….so cool..

I saw/heard him in 2016 at Winters when he was playing the prototype for it -

I do. I’ve had GAS on and off for one for some time. Right now I’m promising nothing new for “a while,” whatever that means. Love Watt. From what I’ve read about the bass, it’s pretty great.

You are not supposed to advertise the amazing versatility of Thunderbirds. Again, the official line is: "Thunderbirds are one trick pony's - and have neck dive, etc, etc....."

I get it. Muddy, too long, dives like a duck, the headstock breaks when you look at it, can be used only for rawk, muddy like all Gibsons, and has a bad balance. Did I say muddy? And it dives, really.

That's cool. Would love to have some audio to go with the pic!

Well, I used it for sonic landscaping for a lack of better description. Heavy compression, overdrive and delay-volume pedal swells. Bruce Kaphan of American Music Club was my inspiration for that sound. Not saying I sounded even a tiny bit that majestic but it served the purpose in a song that already had a dropped-D heavy guitar riffing which handled the real bass part at the same time.[/QUOTE]

Cool bass! I love the body of my '55 Pbass and would love to have that body style with Thunderbird PUs. I would love to have one from these guys (RS Guitar Works in Ky).

And others...

I had mine built from parts. Mexican '51 neck and Booboo guitars "reject" body (alder). The neck pickup is in the 60's T-Bird position so it's slightly closer to the bridge where a SCPB would be. The pickguard was custom made.
In hindsight I probably should have bought a mahogany body but then again it sounds great as it is. A future project maybe...

The Force is strong in this one. The young Jedi learns quick.

Gorgeous! I much prefer the contoured bodies, but I could learn to live with it!

Thanks for posting that Donny! I have never really paid much attention to ABB in their later years. But I love Derek Trucks and been digging some Govt Mule. Now I see where those guys came from. Is that Oteil Burbidge? (Probably spelled that wrong)
My pleasure Irv. A number discount their recent work, but I love it--some more than others--and like to listen to every song on their albums. I can't say that for most every band I've heard. Do check out some of their more recent work, there's some good listening there. Talent? Wow! I actually prefer Tedeschi Trucks band over Gov Mule. TTB is great in concert. If Gregg is singing, I'm interested. If I could sound like anyone, it would be him. So soulful and powerful. And yes, that was Oteil. He's absolutely amazing.
