Thunderbird Club

That is a lot if knobs and switches for one bass…
You want knobs, Alembic has plenty of them…

an interesting write up here in TB…

BTW - each of those white dots is an ivory push button.

Yeah, BC Riches are kinda nuts that way. I just found what sounded best and left it and EQ the rest. I like the set-it-and-forget-it approach. Fortunately it doesn't require a battery since that's just for the boost circuit, which I never use.
Too many controls just turn into a bucket of mush. Although I find what sounds right to me changes from day to day. So maybe a lot of controls is necessary to sound the same in all circumstances with little adjustments of everything.

Who in the club here currently owns a bass that was previously owned or has been played by another member of this club?

My burst VP and white CP both flew to me via @FlyingPigSound . My burst IV Came straight from GC. The frustrating Pro V was from … I forget, but no one here in the gang.

Stupid question perhaps but is there any chance the Vintage Pro pickups have nickel covers? I assume they are chrome but are they?

The nickel covers of the EY chinabuckers on my Telebird are already turning vintage nicely, at least the bridge pickup. 2 years old now.View attachment 4492249
VP are nickel as is the rest of the hardware.

Great, thanks! I bought the bass in September and I've been gigging* with it the whole fall but it seems I haven't been sweating enough. :D

*Duo gigs in libraries around my area so hard to break any sweat. And nobody gave us any sweat over the volume either which was kinda surprising.
And whoever says T-birds aren't versatile can eat my socks. I used it even for some slide stuff...

Cool bass! I love the body of my '55 Pbass and would love to have that body style with Thunderbird PUs. I would love to have one from these guys (RS Guitar Works in Ky).

You are not supposed to advertise the amazing versatility of Thunderbirds. Again, the official line is: "Thunderbirds are one trick pony's - and have neck dive, etc, etc....."

That's cool. Would love to have some audio to go with the pic!
