Thunderbird Club

My rig at a gig the other night, Rumble 500c chained to a Rumble 200c and my TB 1990. We played at a 50th birthday party. He seemed to be a big fan of the US:) (hence the flag)

Seymour Duncan Hawkbucker - this one from '86

Thanks. Ever since I bought cheap X2N copies (Artec Hot Rails) I've been having these plans. Before they went into their final destination (Epi EB-3) I took these dry-run pics just in case. What surprised me was that they seem to be wide enough for Fenders too.

Sorry for this off topic thing...

Growing up in northern states, NY then MI, I always thought it was a southern rock and southern pride thing. Learning later that it was a symbol of hate and no longer OK to fly regardless of why you were flying it, the Confederate "Battle" Flag has been mostly banished to the dustbin of history. Some people still display it on their vehicles or wear patches on their jackets but for the vast majority here in the US it's no longer acceptable to display.

Really surprised to see one in Finland... did you play any Lynyrd Skynyrd for him?

Yeah, I get you. I just checked on the flag, and learned something new. I guess the birthday child just did not realized the current meaning. I don’t know him, we where yous hired to play there. And yes, we do a lot of traditional southern rock, Lynyrd and such.
Sorry if the picture offended somebody.

I'm on the fence about it... I'm all about freedom to do what you want but for me, I don't want to be seen as a racist when I am not.

Can somebody help me. Jow can I remove my posts or pictures, I’d like to take that flag away..

You may not be able to edit your post if it's been too long.

Yeah, I noticed that. Unfortunately.

I feel like you, Larry. I am totally against racism in every way.

Like I said earlier, I had no idea about the racist side of it. The battle flag was displayed on the roof of a car weekly for years during the 80's on a TV show called the Dukes of Hazzard and I never heard anything negative about it.

What a difference 40 years make.

I'd never heard anything negative about it either, until the last year or two.
Of course, I grew up in the South, in probably one of the least progressive? areas (East TN), so that may account for some of that.
But I traveled the country for years, and still, nothing until the last couple of years. Now people look at it like it's the flag used by WW2 Germany.....

On a more Thunderbird-y note....

Sorry everyone for the pic of the stage. Had I known what I learned today, I hadn’t posted it.
Don't sweat it, you had no way of knowing all the historical baggage and current debate. I won't presume to read people's minds or their intentions, but virtually everyone in this area and below used that flag in the past as a way of saying they were proudly from the South--as an area--nothing more--not that they endorsed racism in any shape or form, and it was known as such in the South, which is why is was common and received no complaints until very recently. Was it wise? Not my point here. Clearly a small number did use it otherwise and for evil which is why I would not use it. What is missed is that people from the South have a regional love unlike other areas that people from outside the South haven't experienced or really get. (Texas being it's own country is similar!:D) You had no way of understanding all of that and the necessary nuance involved. Hope that helps. Before we get shut down...

Now...Mahogany Monday anyone?
