@JIO : I would like to learn more about your Silvertone basses. May I ask you to post a link to an existing thread, if there is one? Thanks.

just send him this with the caption…”even Geddy graduated”…Is Jeff Scott someone we should be aware of? (short answer... not really)
Pics of you playing your bass - Part 3
Yeah, but Geddy didn’t stoop to that strap thing that grossed Mr. Scott out.just send him this with the caption…”even Geddy graduated”…

because like any real bass player, he compensates for neck dive with his arm/hand….Yeah, but Geddy didn’t stoop to that strap thing that grossed Mr. Scott out.
Gotta keep the Myth alive - just look at the grimace of pain in Geddy’s face. He’s clearly struggling to keep that horrible neck diving one trick pony muddy sounding over priced finish flawed headstock ejecting bass from hitting the floor. But then again, he’s not doing a bad job of playing considering he’s just a Roadie for Scott. Maybe someday Canada will have a band that gains popularity.because like any real bass player, he compensates for neck dive with his arm/hand….
all you gotta do is play this setup for a min or two and neck dive (if any) quickly becomes of secondary of even tertiary concern…(at least for me…)Gotta keep the Myth alive - just look at the grimace of pain in Geddy’s face. I hear ya! Was doin that for years, SVT-VR into a Berg NV610 (and I suppose I could have added my HT322 as an extension cab if needed). More than enough to bring the house down and push any thoughts of neck dive right outta your mind.all you gotta do is play this setup for a min or two and neck dive (if any) quickly becomes of secondary of even tertiary concern…(at least for me…)

I keep forgetting it's a '70s vintage P maple neck w/blk binding/blocks - not that common back then.![]()
yep…’kinda depends on the burst imho …I have to say, sunburst is the most atrocious ****ing color
Except on Tbirds....
The neck needs to be replaced.
Twist, a hump. Bad frets.
Gonna do a custom build somewhere along the way here.
I don't know the going price for having a NYC/surrounding area luthier make you a neck, but out here it's 4-5 hundred Plek'd. A new Fender neck can be close to that, same with Warmoth. AllParts makes very nice Fender Authorized necks for about $250. You can buy a Fender P clone from China all day long for under $100 but I personally wouldn't do that.
Consider DR Fatbeams. Compression wound steel on a round core. I use them on my Midtown.I have boomers already (probably the hex core) so I’ll pass on that one but the GHS Pressurewounds sound like an interesting choice. They’d be a slight diversion from the nickel rounds, cobalt flats, TI flats, LB Black tapes, Gold rounds and Fender rounds I have on my other birds.
About the only other directions I could go would be Stainless, but I’m not aware of any warm sounding stainless strings, or an Alembic elliptical wound string (on a steel hex core), it supposedly has reduced finger and fret noise but retains much of the round wound feel and sound.
Channeling Jeff Healey?Great, thanks! I bought the bass in September and I've been gigging* with it the whole fall but it seems I haven't been sweating enough.
*Duo gigs in libraries around my area so hard to break any sweat. And nobody gave us any sweat over the volume either which was kinda surprising.
And whoever says T-birds aren't versatile can eat my socks. I used it even for some slide stuff...View attachment 4492252
Warmoth long scale bass necks have steel reinforcement bars in them. They are beautiful necks, really solid, but also heavy unless you go for the carbon fibre reinforcement option. All of those options are on the list, and as you say Geo, minus P clone.![]()
