Thunderbird Club

Growing up in northern states, NY then MI, I always thought it was a southern rock and southern pride thing. Learning later that it was a symbol of hate and no longer OK to fly regardless of why you were flying it, the Confederate "Battle" Flag has been mostly banished to the dustbin of history. Some people still display it on their vehicles or wear patches on their jackets but for the vast majority here in the US it's no longer acceptable to display.

Really surprised to see one in Finland... did you play any Lynyrd Skynyrd for him?
To their credit, Lynrd Skynyrd flew that flag because it was where they were from. Those guys weren't mad at anybody, I believe that.
But right, it's time to know stuff...

Over the years I have bought a few AllParts necks and can attest to them being really good quality. If I needed a standard P-neck in maple, w/rosewood or ebony fb (I like ebony boards) I'd hunt down (eBay) the best price and be guaranteed a very nice neck for a decent price.

I’m eyeing a new blocked and bound rosewood Allparts neck right now.
Gotta wait till the next paycheck.
If it’s still there I’ll grab it.

A well loved backside ( ) happy mahogany Monday..... The Seahawks actually won a game yesterday!

I stumbled across a new to me band and song today. New Orleans is Sinking by The Tragically Hip.

Very very cool
They were successful here with a few albums in the nineties. Their record company failed them and they faded away. I think they remained popular in Canada. Their singer developed brain cancer some years back and the remaining members decided to end the band. Good stuff and a fun rabbit hole to explore. There’s a lot there.

For a few of you, you'll be sorta happy to know that I developed some pain in my fingers playing the EBCF's on the 67 TBird.
However, this just might be(hint of sarcasm)due to the fact I hadn't played said bass since Nov. 13 then played 3 gigs in 24 hours over this past weekend. Which is also why I'm trying to catch up on multiple threads now.:banghead:
Still love my Cobalt Flats.:hyper:

Nice to hear you’re doing some gigs!
I was feeling a bit of pain from RS66s after 2 sets and a long jam on Sat night.

Like I said earlier, I had no idea about the racist side of it. The battle flag was displayed on the roof of a car weekly for years during the 80's on a TV show called the Dukes of Hazzard and I never heard anything negative about it.

What a difference 40 years make.

Yea, it takes time and researching factual historical events for a general awareness/conscience to rise. The swastika was not originally a symbol of (what it became through Hitler) but using it today is universally unacceptable. Not equating their philosophies (rebel flag/swastika) - just using their comparison as loaded symbols with historical significance regardless of the intent of their use.

How the world loved the swastika - until Hitler stole it

GFR is a band from my early teens that I still like to listen to. I thought Mel was a great player. They were hugely popular for awhile. Critics never gave them any love but my friends and I sure did.
Any band that sells out Shae stadium faster than the Beatles is certainly and accurately defined by "hugely popular."

I wore out their Caught In the Act live album. No telling how many times a week I put that on once I got home from school. With my mother working and bikers next door I had no volume restraints. Listening to that also made me think how cool bass playing was. All of them were underrated as individuals and collectively. I think the biggest problem they had was Brewer's huge ego, which I don't think he chose to keep in check.

That toxic material is beginning to seep into your fingers now. It's only a matter of time.... I suspect you have less than 30 years to live, and any children you may have will be born naked. Stop while you can.
