Thunderbird Club

I wouldn't necessarily say that. I've got a rumble 500 head with a TC K212, and it sounds great, but very "vintage" sounding with all the low end. Mind you it's not muddy at all. But you need to tweak the eq. My bass knob never goes past 10:00, but with the high and low mid eq's, you can get a much more full range sound, and stay off the vintage button.
Now if someone plays more Motown, or even reggae stuff, lots of thump, that head would be easy to go to town on.
I think it might be the ultimate 60's/70's class D head.

I can get what I need out of it by playing with the eq, but as a child of the 80's, a GK may be in my future.
Although the TC BH550 appeals to me with the built in TonePrint thing.
How about 50s/60s/70s ?

Just been down to the local ABH for some Gibson picks = 3 each H and XH (pushing the boat out with the spending you can tell).

They have a couple of sale EB-3s - the nicest one is black and a mere $A379. Feels very compact compared to the Bird and I was doing my best Trevor Bolder impersonation. Him indoors says 'no', which is probably for the best really, it would be money better spent on the NRBird next year.

Yes, those Epi Ebony EB3s are great lookers, especially for the price!

Agreed about the maturity content. I stand as exempt but it's a thoughtful observation, for the most part. :D

I cut off the top of my thumb once. Wasn't quite as horrible looking as that, but might have been at least as shocking... clean as a whistle, thumb stops being there just before the tip, suddenly flat as glass. A real surprise to the sensibilities.

Sorry for your loss there... seriously it sucks to have an accident that leaves a deep mark like that, my inappropriate sense of humor aside.

Did she like her new kitchen?
:roflmao: Not inappropriate at all, I dish enough of the stuff out so if I can't take it and all that

I had a slightly more serious injury to that hand about 5 years before that while being distracted, a 15mm (5/8) chisel went in and out of my middle my finger between two middle knuckles then back in again just below the adjacent lower knuckle then carried on going through my finger and hand and eventually came out halfway down my palm. That made a right mess, destroyed tendons, blood vessels and removed bits of bone, I was in surgery for four hours getting it fixed. To this day it still has restricted movement and has a big impact on a day to day basis.

Yes she was over the moon with it, or she feels so guilty she can't bare to tell me she hates it :roflmao:

Great "bird in the hand" action shots!
Some interesting threads on that Dude/Dudette in the last pic.:D Must be a story behind that outfit!:smug:

The show was a Tribute Bowie show, where all bands were to play a couple of Bowie covers together with their own original material...

The dude (Ras Bolding) is pretty colorful and always dresses up for his performances - This time his hair was red as Bowie had in the old days + a similar haircut. For other shows he's been either wearing a silver suit + blue hair, or a Dr. Frankenfurter from The Horror Picture Show outfit (that was for a Halloween show)...

I have a few fun scars, but I can't keep up with this level of small!-scale disaster! I'm Bowing out here- but I do always say that if I screw up my hands bad enough, I'll sell everything and go get a Chapman Stick or a Krappy touch board... hope you can still get on with your playing- I imagine so...

Ok,ok... I want to play the worst injury game!

July 18th, 2006... (that's how you know it was bad, you remember the date) I shattered my right leg's fibula and tibia while mountain biking. I didn't realize how bad it was until I looked down and my foot was flopped over in a very unnatural position and my riding buddies were telling me not to move and just lie there. Surprisingly, not a lot of pain as I waited for my ambulance ride to the hospital. Once in the ambulance an IV was given and I was off in the arms of Morpheus. First time ever receiving morphine and it was ridiculously soothing. I don't remember much after that except for waking up post-op with two of the gnarliest scars I've ever seen. It was three days later when I woke up seeing how they couldn't operate on me for fear of not being able to close me back up. Unbeknownst to me, my ankle had swelled to the point of almost splitting the skin so they needed to get that under control first, so I slept not knowing anything about what was transpiring. Two days of unconsciousness prior to the surgery and one day post-op.

Till this day and most likely till my last, I carry 13 titanium screws and 2 titanium plates with me and surprisingly have no limp. God bless modern medicine!

I still ride and still consider mountain biking to be an excellent outdoor activity and sport.

It does affect my playing quite a lot between the two fingers but what can you do? I play for my own enjoyment now so what the hell, it's not going to get any better so I make the most of it

Ouch! I can't beat that, it sounds as painful as you like

and get strip- then cavity-searched every time you go through a metal detector.

Honestly, it hasn't been an issue, I quite enjoy it! :D

Security must see lots of metal in folks all the time so a wave of the wand and a gentle pat and I'm on my way. With the full-body scanners now in use, I just get waved right on through, no wanding or pat down.

I know I left some stuff in that reply that you can tee off on. Have at it! :roflmao:

He had the option to have them taken out too :roflmao:

That's actually true. The surgeon gave me the option after one year to have the hardware removed but he said I'd be better off leaving it alone if it wasn't giving me any trouble. And by any trouble I mean that the screws could be backing out.

Since I didn't see it noted and there was discussion of Hipshot tuners: be aware that they're exactly the diameter they're marked as being. There will probably be some finish in the peg holes that's going to need to get cleaned out (all four of the ones on my TB IV did) so the tuning machines will fit. They're right fitting!
