Thunderbird Club

Yeah, I was thinking that I could refinish just the neck & neck thru portions on the sunburst.

Yup. Prob too much to do for my skill set. Unless I found an empty (unloaded?) body for cheap cheap cheap to start from. Hmmm.

Looking unlikely.

Keep your eye out on eBay. Last winter, before I bought my Classic IV, I saw a lot of Classics and Pros with "repair issues" - the famous 1"+ crack at the nut issue, mostly. Easy enough to fix and they were going for $125 - $150. They were all auctions, though (no BINs). I considered grabbing one a couple of times, but I always ended up forgetting about it until after the auction ended.

Saw one of the natural finish PRO IVs in ABH Pitt St @ the weekend (a little Aria 80s for my taste). Doesn't have the gloss finish like my trans-black. If you want to turn one into a classic you'll need to fill some potholes. The controls are very close together on the stock config, which is why the V-V ended up mounted diagonally on mine. Also need a little work enlarging the pup cavities for the Chinabuckers (ie Gibsons).
Thinking VVT+kill (just to fill the spots)

I'm tellin ya, just put a dummy pot and knob in those spare holes. If anyone asks what they do just tell em it's the volume control for your lead guitarist. ;)

Or install a non-functioning "Producer Switch" like Lee Sklar used to have...
