Good evening. Dropping by to wish all my Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers a very happy, prosperous and healthy new year. I am happy to report that so far I am beyond pleased with my new NR Thunderbird. The fit, finish, and most importantly feel and sound have greatly exceeded my expectations.
I worked part of the day, and was quite surprised by the big hungry girl that wandered into my yard. I have lived here 11 years and this is the first time I've had one in the yard.

Optional woven strap is a bit pricey at $40 "regularly $60"... I've bought some very nice ones for 1/2 that (and have thrown in more expensive quality leather straps to "sweeten the deal" selling my custom basses)

most of instruments are wearing the newer ACE reissue straps by D’andrea, ($25) a few of them have original Ace straps, my 35mm camera even had one.

I got a box of leather straps I don’t use.

BTW - hopefully the fires weren’t near your place. The footage was apocalyptic. It started about a mile from my sisters house and fortunately for her (sadly not for many others) it went pretty much due east.

I also have the VR. We should share notes, I’m still learning all the things it can do

We relocated to the desert end of the state in Sept. We don’t know anyone who lost a home, but I have several of the businesses I use to service that no longer exist. It’s a bit of an empty feeling knowing those people no longer have their livelihoods.

TB-70 Sunday!

I know I'm just crashing the party here with an entirely unrelated d subject... But this, for me, is pretty unexpected and huge: I've just committed to the purchase of a Fender Bassman 300 Pro tube amp. It's a 300-watt head, switchable to 8/4/2 ohms, and modded with an extra "filament transformer", to keep the main transformer from overheating because of the six Tung Sol KT-120 power tubes, which draw more than the amp is originally spec'd for. That's a bigger tube than you generally find in this (small building of an) amplifier.
And it's as large and heavy as a big dog.
So there you go, seek and ye shall find. This just sort of worked out.
My Epi Thunderbird Classic Pro is going to be stupid-sick plowing through this horrifying forest of high-power glass and iron (into a Bag End loaded SWR Big Ben, I'll probably be looking for another)... I'm sure I'll pay, karmically, for it somehow. I just hope it's a spectacular, fiery end, lol.

I suckered myself into buying an Ampeg SvT 6 pro, the damn thing weighs more than my mother-in-law… and I added a wooden ATA case…

That Ampeg cab is a wonder of physics. I'm told by my amp guy that it has better air displacement than an 810. I just know it makes a lot of sound: hefty, expansive lows and lots of punch, with your amp eq'd for it...
There's one waiting for me to pick up if I want it, but I'm not sure I need the weight...
(Coming from the guy with the out-house sized tube amp...)

AND it’s only 12lbs lighter than an svt810! AND much harder to transport!

but it does sound great.

I don’t know why I keep getting outdated heavy stuff…. The Yorkville is a beast too…
