Happy new year everybody, let me start with a song of which I can't believe is 40 years old this year.

And listen to the guy on the P-bass DRIVING this song.

It has been so long since I have heard that song, that I couldn't initially recall how it goes. And I don't think I had every really listened to the bass line. I will not be playing that; it is way above my paygrade (my paygrade currently being negative).

I can play it two-finger (thumb & pointer) style like a disco riff but would have to work on playing it using a pick like he does.

Yeah, you have to recall that "driven to distortion" in most tube amps means the power stage is driven to distortion. And that inevitably means loud, unless you are using something like a PowerBrake with it.

Oh yeah, that was my point.

That is such a great album. I recall seeing a video of "Life's What You Make It" and was hooked. The studio version doesn't even have a bass guitar on it.
Hard to choose between "The Colour Of Spring" and "Spirit Of Eden", both equally great. "Laughing Stock" is great too but a bit of 'Son of Spirit'. Before that it was progress all the way.

I found my posts from last year, when I changed the covers on the TB+ pickups in my CP, with parts from Philadelphia Luthiers.
Maybe they'll help? (Assuming I put the links in right )

speaking of SVTs and Sunns……
that folded horn Ampeg cab sounds heavenly with the Coliseum Bass…..made us have to replace a glass pane in one of the sound booths some years back….no joke..

Yeah, I've had them for about twenty years, I have one head out here, two heads and both cabs in a storage space in Mass. I've been using SVT's since the mid 70's. I have a V4-B cab like yours in the post above too.
