too grabby or too slidy?
I change the angle of the neck frequently while playing so I like a little bit of slide without grabbing too much.
No resistance - to emphasize ... if the bass is designed to balance well to begin with, any strap will work with it. I use wide "grippy" suede-backed leather straps for T-birds. That and looping the strap on top of the upper lower bout. No issues what-so-ever after doing this.
This is my "fix" for a straight-forward strap hook-up on a T-bird shaped object. (as in, no need to loop the lower-upper bout) 12th fret strap-peg location works every time.
