Thunderbird Club

Quick review:

I got demoted to the shop, so I have the beater Jazz bass with EB sleazy rounds 105-45

Ran it front pickup only, tone off 20%, and subjected everyone within earshot to 20 minutes of “Bassically/NIB” in a round.

the three volumes work brilliantly
Drive
Drive vol
Clean vol

As a straight preamp, works everything as good as the TC spark (which I love)
Definitely has a solid dB rise

Each gear is distinguishable, but somewhat subtle unless you gas it (which I did :woot:)
1 is supposed to be b15. Sounds good, no basis for comparison. It is smooth

2 is supposed to be SVT. I’m using one, so yes :roflmao: But it will do pissed off SVT at grandma acceptable volume

3 is supposed to be ac30. Never played one. But it has a much less smooth grit to it (read the manual for why, asymetrical) You can hear it for sure. It sounds more janky (good way) OD like an Orange to me

4 To be the ACC360. I love this setting. More of a creamy thick OD

end result: Would buy after testing in a store if I didn’t already have it

I used the same settings, turned the amp off the big volume, and used the cleaner channel 2.
I’m sure there’s much more there with twiddlingView attachment 4529662View attachment 4529663
cool review. Thanks for doing that. And now I know where my missing purple tortoises wandered off to!
Thanks, and happy to inspire as much gear hoarding as the others!

And tortoise makes better picks than pickguards!

Is the 50W tube? Tube amps as a rule want to be matched to their load. SS amps don't care, so long as it doesn't look too close to a short circuit. (Yes, that's a simplistic answer.)

Yes the 50w is all tube, the others are hybrid.

That answer actually makes sense. I haven’t had it explained that way before, and I may even be able to retain the information for future reference…

the guitarist (left) used to scam on the keyboardist’s (white suit) girlfriends who in turn used to retaliate by moving the guitar amp plug to a socket that didn’t share the PA ground
(mics)…… made for some spectacular stage antics…..no joke….

That's good. Nothing like a little unexpected tingle.

What the hell happened here?
Something about answering, "yes, it does make your butt look....." And that's all he remembered.

I really don't know, but the cat must have mouthed off to the wrong badder cat. Of course he could have been the victim of undocumented borrowing and he resisted a little too much.

I thought that must be a Pinarello! My current ride is a 2007(?) Pinarello Galileo. Campy everywhere. If it were a bit larger frame I'd just replace the shifters and derailleurs (the poor Centaurs are on their last legs, per the local shop) and seat, and raise the bars a bit. It's ~17 pounds IIRC. Of course, I really need something more like a touring/gravel bike for my daily rides, but I'd keep this for backup and the days I was going to be only on smoother pavement. I've put ~3.2k miles on it this year, and it was already flogged quite a bit when I got it. But it rides like a Thunderbird plays - just much quieter.

I just finished building this:

Sounds like we are in a similar place. 35mm tires roll as smooth as the low end on T-Bird!

One guitarist wanted to call our band Charm School because we are all a little rough around the edges and say highly inappropriate things when we shouldn't. It reminded me too much of an 80's all-girl Hair Band name so I voted no.
Good "no" vote! Some of the band names were so cheesy and down right stupid that has to be a reason some bands never made it. The dumbest one I was ever in was called Prestige. If that doesn't sound like a cover band that has as it's goal to play to empty hotel lounges I don't know what does. Oddly enough we didn't do that and did a fair amount of original music and tried to avoid being seen as a cover band. We could write songs, just couldn't come up with a name when we wanted to change from the original name from when I joined.

Band names are the hardest nut to crack. Google a promising band name and 9 x's out of 10 it's already taken.
