Thunderbird Club

Did a gig this afternoon in Cambridge, MA, at a very hep, local organic/local merchant/high-end market, for their "Customer Appreciation Day". A little 4-piece rock/psyche/Jam-stylee band
Did the best bass solo I think I've ever played, on my Epi Blackbird, with ultra-heavy gauge Rotosound strings and slightly too-high action. Gotta bring that bridge down a little...

My best bass solo ever. Pretty sure. Not that it was groundbreaking, or particularlyy brilliant, mind you. Just really solid, sensibly phrased, and cogent. I felt just really good about it. That's not an every day occurrence... and I didn't expect it to happen on the Bird. What do you know.

The late, great, Prince Buddy Tom BuzzBomb.

Never spent a night indoors in his life.
Thats not a Hawk is it? The bike not the cat lol

Hockey, Cats & Thunder(birds). Nothing has ever gone unmentioned in this club :D. From cars, to 7ender, to club inductions :p

On a note of birds, i took the goth in pieces & wrote down ALL that is needed in order to restore it to a final glory. The deep sixx pickups are very nice looking & i'll be filling in the pickup cavities just a tad as to raise the pickups without them being screwed only with a single thread of the screws. I'm also bringing the fretboard thickness down a bit & will radius it back to 12" & install the new Guitar jumbo frets - wonder if they'll wear down faster than bass frets, doubtful. & will also be stripping the finish back, except the headstock face, filling in gaps & dings from the last 5 years on both the neck & body. Then i'll paint the whole thing in red, mask & tear off designs..& well you'll see the progress as time goes by. Til then one step at a time. In gear related news i've finalized the structure for my amp road case. Only missing the front & back panels to start the whole build.

Considering all the time you've spent so far dismantling, putting back together, repairing and refinishing that Goth to no end - Wouldn't it have been less time-consuming and cheaper to just scrap it all together and buy a new one? ;)

He's got the bug... there's something especially cool, and deeply mojo about an instrument that has your mark, the shape of your heart and hands all over it. The results are a stamp of your soul.

It's the bug, he's got.

This is the bass i've had a love hate relationship with. Times i've enjoyed having this bass & playing it, other times i regret buying it in the first place :banghead:. Lately, the only hate i've had for is not being able to play it & it sounding like garbage. Now with this re-mod, i hope it'll sound & look better than it ever did in the last 5 years of owning it :D & it wouldn't be the same just scraping this one & buying a new one - easy granted, but worth it, not to me :) Like the Count said, it's a bug
