I saw that my buddy Baz is going for it. So I am stepping back.
Our very own God of Thunder took a sliver of a NR body and created a new body around it. It would take work but someone with dedication and a LOT of patience could probably make her whole again. Hopefully someone will help the Bird out.

Ok!

I'm offering up my Schecter Omen Extreme 4 in the classy's as trade bait for an Epi Classic Pro IV or similar.

Just in case any of you Bird folk might happen to have one that wants to fly the coop... and the Schecter looks interesting... or if you know someone with such interest.

Simply amazing what chrome parts do for a modern Thunderbird, that's just classic in appearance!

Gibson really, really missed the boat by not offering chrome as (at least) an option. Henry J., are you reading this?

Do any of you play your Thunderbird with fingers only in a band? I see a lot of pick players but maybe I'm not seeing the finger folk. Just wondering.

I play finger style if the song calls for it, honestly that's not much during the course of a night's setlist, but I sure like the tone when I do.

An extensive repair could be interesting at this point. It would end up more "itself" than Gibson, but it could be interesting. For the price? @Andii Syckz?

I would, but then it's sourcing suitable wood & such. It could be done for sure, Then it's cost of making it look original (minus the burst i'd probably use a top & dye it) some pickups, bridge & controls knobs. Doable, i'd give it a few select mods but nothing in major drastic changes as it is now. Doesn't look like it'll ship to Canada so i'm out - bummer, i'm kinda liking the idea of making this new again & maybe give it to my pops :P refinished in white like his first thunderbird

Have it shipped to me, I'm in new England. I'll ship it on to you.

Hey All,

Please check this out, it's the definitive book about Gibson basses put together by Rob (Bassvarken), he's a longtime buddy from L.B.O. and The Dudepit as well as TB. Many of the pictures are of basses from Uwe Hornung's incredible collection of Gibson bass guitars. Let him know what you think and consider buying a great book!

What happened about this? The thread has gone and I can't find @Bassvarken as a member any more. I want a book but I don't know where to find him now
