Thunderbird Club

Tracking says Thursday…

Still need to order some .015uf caps, and a 500k blend pot. Still haven’t tried other than the stock cap in my other ‘un.

I have a couple new straps in the order, I got some of the Dunlop ACE style straps that were on sale. (Marketed as Jimi Hendrix straps)

the D’andrea ACE straps have a slippery vinyl backing I prefer for most geetars (treble and base) and the Dunlop have a faux suede backing that is a little grabbier for neck heavy base geetars…

D’andrea straps have a much nicer looking weave design, but the Dunlop look the same from 2 feet away.

I need to move my fret pile from a ziplock to a coffee can, wish I had not thrown so many away.

I'll have to add CO on my list if I ever get to head our West one day. I'll have to retire before hitting all the locations West of the Mississippi and plan on being gone a month!

With respect to the PUs looking like DeCola's, that's what first thought as well. I can't recall, does it have them same number of poles?
Is this what the DeColas look like under the covers? (Check out the soldering job on the back of the pot - I had to reflow that)

The cover on one on my EB is not well attached. Remind me and I will take a look this weekend. Putting Chrome covers on that bass would be great. And maybe a bridge cover just orneriness.

Some Tbirds dive and some don’t. Generally speaking, the bolt on neck birds seem to be a bit more neck heavy than the neck through birds, but I have plenty of bolt on birds that don’t dive at all, it’s just the luck of the draw.
Recommended order of treatment…
- a nice wide leather or non slippery bass strap
- move the neck strap pin to the heel of the bass like yours already is
- route the bridge end of the strap over the face of the upper wing
- position the body of the bass at about waist level and the neck more vertical (about 1:00 or 2:00)
- install Hipshot or other brand ultra light tuners
My set neck 67NR doesn't dive. (Maybe it's a fake).

It’s attached at the top neck plate screw.

In case no one else has suggested this, run the bottom end strap in front of the bass rather than behind. None of ine (including that model) dove that bad other than the 5 string, which had much more weight out yonder.
