Thanks for the video! Definitely an awesome sounding bass. Haven't seen anyone answer the neckdive question, but I guess I'll have to see for myself, can't be worse than a regular TB anyway ;)

I prefer base geetars with the strap button at or around the 15th fret.

Most of them balance best with the button at the heel where the neck joins the body.

I also hold my instrument at about a 60-70* angle vs completely horizontal and at the top of my tube socks.

Neckdive isn't a thing with me.

Here we are ( I don't like this pic, but it's mostly because I'm a vain old bag), this is mine on me with the strap pins in the stock locations, centerline if the body for the rear and at the tip of the upper 'bout. Une of our members has added a pin at the neck heel which takes the neck angle up.

ok butt ton relocated to the heel, and I play with my fingerses parallel to the frets and move the geetar as I play up and down the neck to maintain my fingers parallel to the frets.

(this keeps me somewhat in tune on fretlesses)

I wear my instrumink up high so the audience can check out my junk when I’m onstage.

Nice duster

Happy new year thunderbuddies!

I still can't play my bird... but I brought thunderbird pickups this time at least.

This genre is called ''rumba flamenca'' and this is 100% my own arrangement for this song from the scratch, you may like it (or not).

(The video recording is quite bad I must say)

Nice playing!!

I stand corrected.
Actually it was your post that prompted me to double check. My recollection was the same as yours, the 2015 pup was bigger than a standard Gibson bird pup. Decided to measure it to see how much bigger. Was very surprised to find they are identical in size.

The great news is that opens up a bunch of options for folks that aren’t fond of the exposed pole look. The 2015 plastic covers just pop right off (no destructive cover removal required, held in place with a small dab of silicone caulking). Take those plastic covers off and you can replace them with some smoke black or gloss black covers and trim rings for a cool look, or go all out with nickel, chrome or gold covers instead. And since there’s no tearing apart the pup covers, you can easily return it to stock if needed.

Rexx - welcome to the new year!
I have to admit, I’m not normally a fan of slap technique on bass, but that was done very tastefully and the percussive nature of the technique fit the song very well. Nicely done sir! Keep ‘em coming!

I can forgive a bad setup but poorly finished fret ends on an otherwise nice bass is just gross and inexcusable. The T-Bird ergo issue this is overblown as usual. That Serek did sound pretty sweet though dispite his lazy and sloppy slap technique. Bad technique is a lot like bad fret ends to me. Lol.
Can we just abbreviate "slap and pop" to "slop"?

As someone that started on a Glarry Burning Fire, he misses the point that it is a great platform for mods. My Burning Fire was around $90 shipped and even after changing out the pups, pots, strings, tuners, bridge, and lining the control cavity with copper tape, I still came in under $200 (granted got the tuners and bridge gratis), it is my favorite bass to play since no neck dive and only 6.8#. The T-bird would be the top if I changed the strings to La Bella tapewounds and cured the neck dive.

You're describing another more current phenomenon. which is the concept of "DIY modding". It's been around for decades but the number of products geared for aftermarket "upgrading" is at an all time high. I have a bass that wasn't in that same "MIC around $100 bass", but nonetheless I changed everything on it aside from the body and neck. (and I refinished and chambered the body!) Companies like Glarry can produce a 'functional' bass for cheap (won't go into how they can do that here...) and with targeted upgrades I can imagine it would be a decent playing/sounding instrument. It satisfies those who want something for close to nothing, and also satisfies their DIY "itch" to make their cheap investment into a playable instrument. I say, if that works for you - more power to you. That "Burning Fire" probably doesn't neck-dive.

Well there is a channel I will never watch...

I only posted it because he isn't entirely incorrect in all his opinions. Also, choosing the G&L L2000 as his top choice is something I agree with, and I've heard nothing but positive things about Serrick basses. It looks and sound great. I also agree with him about acoustic-electric basses. :rollno: (not hollow-body basses) So his batting average considering his choices give him cred in my book. I understand why those who worship the Bird would take offense, but realistically - I can't dis him. FTR - I'm a T-bird player/supporter longer than most on this thread so I'm not dissing on the beast - just making sure the adoration is justified when new consumer products are released.
