You're right. There are very few pics as well and it's impossible to tell much about the time frame. There are few pics from the Rossington Collins Band era.I think I've seen a total of two vids with Allen playing a Strat. The only two times I saw the band, Ed was still there. I wanted to go see them with Steve and the Honkettes, but that stupid plane crash.
Love that Epiphone!Fretless Friday

No T-Bird content 'though. Just heard that a 100 pages was needed quick but I may be late for that too...

About 1 month. In Frankfurt waiting for the last 8.5 hour leg.
It is pretty tatty, I may take it off tomorrow and make a hole template for the new one.
NYC EMD E8 is what that is, 2 V12 cylinder 567 (CI per cylinder) diesels, NYC had 62 total. One of the most famous noses in railroading too.
How does it go from warm to bright with a change in gauge?
Yeah. I came, I drooled, I looked at my bank balance. Nope.Thank goodness it's expensive (and only has one PU). What a temptation.
Roto Bass are their cheaper version. No silks for one thing. The NPS 66s seem a little more punchy, maybe, but my RotoBass sets are older. There's not much difference.Really dont know.
But checking Rotosound website, saw the difference
Nickel roundwound - Swing Bass 66 Nickel Standard | 45-105 • Rotosound Music Strings
Nickel on Steel roundwound - Roto Bass Nickel Heavy | 50-110 • Rotosound Music Strings

Thx.
Sounds very good, but I’m gonna see if I can get it to sound even better. Right now it certainly sounds on par with my Eppi and Gibby birds but the way I have it wired lends itself to lots of tone customizing for each individual pickup. So tweak away I will.
As for how it plays - nice but needs some fine tuning as well. The balance is fantastic, zero neck dive (and this is a light weight semi hollow body). The neck feels great, smooth and fast, very nice frets, but it is from a P bass so a tad thicker than the Tbird norm. The action is what I’m working on at the moment. I’ve probably had the neck off a dozen times fine tuning the geometry, looks like a 1.5 degree shim will be needed to place the neck at the optimum angle for ultra low 4/64ths action (measured at the 12th fret, string not depressed). Once I complete the shim work and reset the action she should be a super sweet player.
You guys are too kind!
yes he did, don’t think Warwick (definitely not the Thumb bass) were around in 81…Be calm, it's a de-fretted '81 SB700. Great bass anyway.
I believe Jack Bruce played a fretted SB1000. His fretless at that time was an early Spector (or was it an early Warwick prototype).
Love that Epiphone!
So love this tune!!!
